Went into the Specialized Concept Store in Covent Garden. I really want an S-Works frame. So shiny. The guy there also made me really want a Roubaix. He said he rides outo near Windsor, really crap roads. Said he tested the Tarmac one day, and the Roubaix the next. Same route. The Roubaix just removed so much road chatter. Quite jealous.

no 117 Chalkpit lane concurred, that's one nasty little climb. The gradient keeps on increasing around a hairpin right up to the next one so pretty demoralising on the first attempt.

That was such a weird ride. I did't put on any sunscrean because it was cloudy and forecast to stay cloudy. 5 miles later bright sunshine so had to stop and buy some. About 1/3 way around my route takes me through someone's massive private estate, the gate was open so didn't even realise until I was told to "please leave sir". Top of chalkpit lane garmin says to cycle through a golf course on a footpath. 3 miles later I'm riding through a thunderstorm at the top of a hill with a huge lighting strike that looked like 500m away. Freshly shaven legs now have a mud-tan line.

So I've got another bike to use until I possibly get a fork from Kieran. Means I don't destroy a customer bike as it would get awkward!

Bosses 'autumn' bike F75 with Sprint 350 wheels, Vibe bars, PLT stem slammed as low as possible. Should feel good tomorrow!

(excuse the litter tray and washing)

Shifters probably are the most complicated part of a bike. Electronic shifters are just switches though, the motors have more of the brains.

I'd not expect a shop to warranty a shifter that you jammed a cable in yourself.(if it were to just have snapped and got stuck then I don't see why not)

I've managed to take apart the old style exposed ones and the 10 speed 5700/6700 era stuff but haven't had to with the 11 speed stuff.

Urgh. Need to swap out that gear cable but I've only got Jagwire inners where I'll have to snip off one end...and it's all internal routing. I predict that I'll faff around for an hour until I've completely frayed the cable down to nothing, give up, then go to a bike shop tomorrow.

Bloody weather, went up to a TT glorious sunshine at home, got about half way there, suddenly darker then lashing, got called off after waiting around for 30 minutes! Very annoying! Come back down South and glorious sunshine again!

There's been stories up about Wiggo turning up at a club TT last night. It's the nearest club 10 to me, and I know a couple of guys who regularly ride it, but they weren't there last night. Gutted!

Christ the humidity this evening. Rode at times with my eyes closed to stop the sweat stinging :p

Not quite the 'leisurely' pace I'd anticipated... and there had been a downpour and some flash flooding. Very kindly a van driver suggested I go around rather than ride though :D did have to wash the bike after mind before it gets put in the bike box this evening

Not an insignificant amount of elevation and nothing 'nasty' like usual, fastest ride (solo & ever) to date.

Nice ride Benny.

I've just finished getting the gears into kind of a workable state on my bike. There's no bar tape and no hoods on there right now though. I also had to cut the front gear cable to remove the little internal cable guide thing so I could route my new gear cable through. I only had one spare inner too, but luckily managed to re-use the old front cable. So annoying but the bike is still in a more usable state than I thought it would be.

Should be fun riding to work tomorrow with no bar tape or hoods. #winning

Well, the cable went slack. I pulled back the hood to find it's stuck at the top so I can't even push it out if I wanted to replace it. No word from bike shop yet... most I've dealt with never seem to call when they say they will!

This is why you need multiple bikes :D

This is something I need to sort out pronto... Just too indecisive on which bike :D

Ribble had a £250 Claris Alu frame/Carbon fork thing up a few months back (Ribble Prime)... kinda wishing I just bought one of those as a spare!

I get it! The wee hole at the bottom then the slot makes it a pain in the hole.

What's actually wrong with the shifter? Has it been tested on the bike, cable back through it with the hood folded back to where it should be?

(hoods folded up to change cables makes the paddle release not work)

The feeling where you realise that you put your Shimano chain on the wrong way round :/

Rear gears are still playing up but I'm hoping that's primarily down to the chain issue.

Not entirely sure but they said it's not shifting. I didn't test it myself back on the bike but presumably bike shop I've left it at now will have a good go at it.

It certainly wasn't 'clicking' when removed from the bike on it's own - no hood.

Had an interesting discussion yesterday regarding crank length: Basically, one of the guys at the Specialized Concept Store said that he felt that all things considered, crank length was probably one of the last things to change, and possibly wouldn't need changing at all.

I'm going to get a bike fit done at Stows: That should then allow me to see if there are any fit issues which would be fixed by changing crank length: Otherwise I'm sticking to 170mm.
