Those who have the lifeline wall rack, how deep a section front wheel would they take, and would they take mountain bike (2.25" tyres)?

I've got my lodgers bike up on one at the moment without any issue, standard mountain bike.

In terms of rim depth? I'd have to check but you could probably get away with 35's but 50's might be a push and I wouldn't want to be hanging the bike off a carbon deep section rim like that. Wheel alone should be fine though.

Currently hang my road bike on the decathlon hooks (50mm clinchers) no issues, might grab a few of these though for the CX and MTB and stick with current methods for TT and Road bikes.

Thanks for the information.

Look what just appeared in my Manc Wheelers FB feed:

Got a Wiggle price match on two 6800 shifters for £150..
That's a damn good price, who did you match them against?
Is the charge spoon still the best value general recommendation?
It's probably the easiest to find at a good price. Fabric Scoop (I think?) is basically the same saddle.

Many other options, several here like the Tioga Spyder. I'm a bit of a tart and will only currently ride Fizik Arione R5's and have found them second hand quite easily for ~£50.
Park Tool Axle Vice AV1 - £9 on ebay.
Great find, only £12 on CRC too.
Oh wow! Sounds like you've got it all planned out then! What bike are you looking at?
Really torn between the Specialized Roubaix Disc or Diverge. Also quite like the Domaine Disc too. As it'll be a winter bike so I'm in 2 minds about carbon/alu and the colour/disc setup choices will probably determine my choice rather than frame material. It'll also need to be 5800/6800 for servicing/parts ease.

The one I had from Halfords looks almost an exact replica of the Lifeline one and I was able to fit my old hybrid onto it with 26x1.75's. Admittedly it was so heavy it pulled the hook off the wall, but that'll be my fixing, not the hook! Well it was strong enough to pull rawl plugs out of a breeze block wall lol

ProBikeKit... looks like I'll be ordering them too... Just dropped bike to original bike shop and they seemed to immediately jump on the fact that other bike shop could have broken it and I didn't bring it to them first. Left it with them anyway for their mechanic to check but they said even if they want to go ahead with warranty it's like 2 weeks to send it to Shimano. Not really sure I can be bothered to wait that long. This bike shop is an hour round trip drive (providing the M25 is clear!) too so not exactly close.

I'm pretty tempted by this at the moment: http://road.cc/content/review/171872-ridley-x-bow-10-disc £850 at Hargroves Cycles. Idea would be that I might like a bit of cyclocross now and again but it still supports full mudguards, skinnier slicker tyres etc for long commutes

Thanks for the suggestions, have gone with the Charge Spoon, as at £17.98 I've not really lost anything. If it's no better than I think I will take a trip to a bigger bike shop and try a few out before parting with £50+.

Bit annoying regarding the shifters, especially when shops can blame each other to get away with not replacing them under their warranty. The fact they've mentioned that I'd expect (as you are) that you've got to buy new, but I would still push them for warranty replacements from Shimano. Ideally then you'll have some new shifters you can sell to offset the cost of your replacements (or even keep). Or at least some 'credit' at the shop you could spend on anything else you needed...

X-Bow is nice and although that review slates it's weight (10.5kg), around that sub £1k price point and an alu frameset is quite normal. It's in the same ballpark as the CaadX 105 for price/features and similar weight. I would probably look at frame weights to help me decide as both bikes would benefit from an upgraded wheelset (in future) which would probably bring both under the 10kg mark. Personally I would be looking at what PX deals I could find to get something with hydro, or something like the Mango Point AR (and then determine if the price difference to go hydro over cable is worth it).

Mmm, the Roubaix and Diverge look like very nice bikes! Part of me wishes I'd bought a Roubaix over a Tarmac.

I know the main difference of the Diverge is that it can support up to 35mm tyres (nice bonus, especially over the winter) and of course, it's a bit sturdier for off-road adventures. I wonder how well a Roubaix with 28 tyres would run though (comes with 26s standard, probably as clearance for 28s).

Cyclist magazine are apparently going to be hosting another track day in the future to test bikes. Probably won't ever get a Diverge to test there though :( It's probably the only place I could ever test a bike, as getting a 49cm frame is basically impossible unless you're buying it
