What were you doing in Builth? Event at Llanelwedd showground? ToB has a finish there this year! :D

Oh lovely!

It was for work unfortunately. Not for cycling :( We stayed the night at the Metropole in Llandrindod Wells and indeed we did head to Builth to go to the show ground. The place is huge!!

Well, I made it home... Here's the ride:

Slow even by my standards - 14.1mph for 60.6 miles, though I know the mileage figure is too low as the route should come out closer to 63 miles. Even so. I'm gonna blame the wind, the unfamiliar roads, terrible road surfaces and the threat of Brexit looming over me.

Still, I got some pr's on segments I've not done since I rode Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool a few years ago, so it's not all bad.

Glad you got home ok. Was going to do another 20 miles and 2000 ft more climbing on my ride tonight, but wind and being tired made me not bother. Glad I chickened out.

Epic ride that! Well done on the PRs :D

Bit of an odd one and probably one for bennyc.

Been away a few days and chucked on some pounds which I'll probably lose fairly quickly. But I had a cut earlier in the year and got myself to the leanest I ever had been just by limiting calories and cycling longer too/from work but generally at lower power levels with the occasional hard training ride.

Now I'm into my racing season I've levelled out and generally sat just above 66kg from 65.5kg at my lightest. Now my fear is losing my power but I'm guessing as long as I eat my macros and healthy clean food I could keep this power whilst aiming for a small calorie deficit as I'd like to be looking a little better if I'm honest. (especially when I have to wear my skinsuit) and with a view to cx over the winter where power to weight will be more crucial.

Obviously the pro riders generally drop a load of fat just before the grand tours they're focusing on but will sustain or even increase power. Obviously they have methods I have no access to but just wondering if what km trying to achieve is even possible, and if so is my idea sound?

Looool bit off more than I could chew. I'm 30 miles from home and knackered! Hey ho. Time to crawl back.
'Get home mode'! Had to do this last weekend after I stupidly went out without eating and only 2 museli/granola bars in my pocket. I didn't really 'bonk' but I know that I can't push hard and that my power levels are low. I tend to build more lactate like this too and ache more than normal afterwards, is that normal?
I for one am glad they have upped their sizing as traditional Italian sizing is not really applicable for most UK men with more sizable thighs and shoulders ;)
Oh I totally agree, I recently fitted in Castelli Large shorts instead of XL and wouldn't expect me to get any smaller. I would consider myself a 'Medium' in normal (non-cycling) sizing. Admittedly I was previously probably overweight and I'm now the most 'trim' I've been in 15+ years!:D

Although another part of me wishes that NFTO had followed Italian/Castelli sizing - at least that way there would be some consistency. At the end of the day their range is tiny and probably isn't going to continue. Sizing like DHB's will continue and I would like to see more consistency with cycling sizing like this that normal people can relate to. Hell, most people 'know' their Castelli sizing and use that to judge, but personally I've found huge differences in sizing within Castelli ranges too!

Haha awesome, yeah it's a huge site & has to be for the Royal Welsh showground (which fills it!). There's always events on there but very few of them use much of the site.

I used to support the systems at the Metropole, they used some archaic booking system which used to always go wrong due to dodgy BNC network cabling, but wouldn't spend the money to replace it with CAT5!
I've been to Builth for the Royal Welsh show. Quite an event.
It's huge! I grew up going to it but haven't been for probably 10 or more years. My parents still go religiously!
I'm about to head for for my birthday dinner with my folks :D
Enjoy the wheels & Happy Birthday! :D

Went out with my mate after work yesterday and got soaked as hadn't got a packable due to leaving work in humid and semi-sunny weather... Got home and it hadn't rained, felt almost as if we'd gone rain hunting! FFS!

Easy few miles out of town with him on the front after I lost something out my pocket at some lights, I jumped on the front and pulled quite hard up some of the inclines (then easing off for him) as some spots of rain started... At the Trumpet where we turned North/West the heavens opened and we spent the next 2-3 miles in a bit of a shower (thankfully not a torrential storm!). Soaked through and the wind felt very cool, was almost tempted to pull my knee & arm warmers out! :o
Thankfully when we turned back West the winds warmed up and we dried out (except toes!), I put an effort into the headwind to hold a nice 21mph average. Really enjoyed it so considering it a real indication of my recovered form, even with the ~150 miles I'd done in the last 7 days (high for me!) :)
I was feeling so good I even dragged Richie over Aylestone Hill, put a good seated balls out effort into it and smashed 10s off my PR, which I'm chuffed about! :D

I'm up to 95 miles for the week (not including the 42 I did on sunday) so fairly happy if the weather dictates I can't ride this weekend. Hopefully I can but house moving stuff is probably more important ;)

Pretty sure I don't hit Wattage peak on the last corner of the lap :D
I could hear the Morvelo jersey flapping on the shoulders a little so I'll blame that for the slow lap time. Still better wearing the size down as a crop-top.
