Track where you are at what times to either break into your house or steal your bike.

You can hide the last 1 mile of any route even to your followers

Yep, set up an 'exclusion zone' around your house so nobody can see exactly where you start or finish your rides.

Yeah I've got the Privacy/Exclusion zone setup (one of the first things I did) as there's people I'm happy with them following me but wouldn't trust them to know exactly where I live! I guess it's less of an issue for me as I live in a big residential area (where even the houses all look the same) but for more rural people I can see the problem/issue.

ehem... :| ordered sunday! ffs.

That's rubbish CS! Quite happy I've not used them for much... I keep going back to Wiggle but I know I should use others, but Wiggle's site is so much better lol :p:)

I dont think you see that? (unless I have set mine up wrong?)

It still shows me my full rides but (hopefully) not for other people.

Yeah. You get to see everything and the stats displayed are for the full journey it's just that others can't see the exclusion zone and can't see any segments within those zones.

Still nothing here! Might give them a call.

worth a shot, will probably get the same response..

Ordered that Planet X London Road I linked to earlier, taking the gamble with SRAM double-shift, although not that worried as it seems pretty straight forward and the Rival 22 groupset gets great reviews!

Hopefully the order goes smoothly :o

Double Tap is great. Lots of folks say it's rubbish, but I just think they haven't given it time. I switch between Sram and Shimano without thinking.

agree! never had a problem, love it tbh.

Hmm... Maybe you're right. I could've sworn it hid things on my rides but I only had them setup very briefly when I first started using Strava so perhaps it was just user error on my part.

Exactly this.

I've got my privacy settings on advanced so I have to approve people who want to follow me and I have an exclusion zone set around my house. Its not worth the risk to have it set otherwise, there are some devious, nasty people out there who will do anything, despite how well you think you are protected.

I do that to. Don't forget an exclusion zone at work if you need it too.

My work is quite secure - anyone who comes here I'll have them on at least 3 CCTV cameras before they get near! Although there's not a camera pointed directly where I keep my bike, it's right next to reception where there's always someone sat with lots of staff coming and going (safe enough to me, one guy doesn't even lock his bike but it's an old beater). My desk is around 20m from my bike :D

it just irks me seeing bits of my ride missing.

Same, my complete ride is shown on my view of my rides! Where does my commute from this morning start for you? It should be near here, if I remember how I set my zone up... (The roundabout I was knocked off from before Xmas!)

I only allow followers to view my rides but don't use an exclusion zone as it'll remove my KOM that is on my street.:p

Thieves are devious though. A bike was nicked from my flatmate's office bike storage that has CCTV. The guy just rocked up in full cycling kit to blend in, entered the storage by following someone, chopped a lock then left.

I feel for you. :(

I'm still waiting on PBK for my Virb. What a complete balls up this has been:

  1. I ordered on the 15th Febuary!
  2. I cancelled the following day as I decided I wanted the Elite which was on Amazon for a good deal.
  3. I then decided against it, rang them up and they replaced my origianl order.
  4. 10 days later with still no dispatch notification I get an email saying the Virb I ordered is out of stock. But they have exactly the same product available for the same price, I guess on a different stock code.
  5. I rang them to place this order and cancel my old order.
  6. I later get a failed cancellation email (for my old order) and two dispatch notifications.
  7. Two payments have been taken and I'll need to return one of the Virbs to get a refund.

Fine whatever. But now we are 7 days after the dispatch confirmation with still no delivery.

That fact that it excludes segments in the exclusion zone is just daft.

How easy would it be for them to leave these results private, or keep them public if specified? Very easy.

It will remove you from any segments which are within your exclusion zone, but you still see the full distances for your rides.

I understand why they have done this. But I am really intrigued as to how far up some of the leaderboards I am on some of them!

yeah PBK took 6 working days to deliver my virb after dispatch! :o

so they dispatched a gift and the actual order.. gift arrived in less than 24 hours, actual order a week later!

They are probably just scare stories but there have been incidents reported of thieves using Strava to track down high end bikes.

A mate of mine has various separate bikes listed on Strava... He's got Dave, Fred, Steve...

Hurrah, I've got my price match code to get the shoes I want from Wiggle.

Has anyone used Northwave shoes? What's the sizing like? I'm getting very mixed reports from the Q&A on Wiggle, with some saying it's spot on and some saying to size up. I'm tempted to size up, like with Shimano, and then I can always swap them if needs be. That is, after all, why I wanted to use Wiggle, given their easy returns system...

Also, is there an easy way to figure out the cleat position I need with SPD-SL pedals/cleats/shoes? My SPD cleats were fitted when I had my bike fit. Is there any way I can figure out how to position the SPD-SL cleats on my new shoes based on the position of my SPD cleats on my old shoes?

I've got various bikes listed but most of them have been retired.

Actually, one thing on Strava that does annoy me is that when I upload a ride the default bike is one that I've retired.

Just go into your profile, then select the gear menu and you can re select your default bike.

I used to use them. I found them to be spot on length wise, but the toe box is pretty wide, too wide for me really.

Hmm, OK. I have pretty wide feet, like G width when I was a kid, so the extra width would be welcome. Maybe I'll just flip a coin to decide whether I order 43 or 44 first time out and see how it goes...

Where's nice near Leigh/Atherton/Tildesley? On Sunday we're taking some fairly inexperienced cyclists over that way so if there's some nice green areas and/or recommended coffee/cake stops I'd really appreciate people pointing me in the right direction :)

edit: Nevermind... stuck doing the super overly done Tatton Park loop. Snore.

Tip: It's not obvious but the little radio button next to each bike is the default. I had to change it on mine and then saved it by logging out and back in, it didn't seem to save otherwise.

Ride I'm looking at doing this weekend (saturday): https://www.strava.com/routes/1522880

Maybe 5-6 more miles than I'd like but the return 'leg' back to Hereford is a road I know well (the end part is my commute) so should be fairly easy - it's a busy main road but not many other options around here...

Also a little more climbing than I'd like (don't want a repeat of 2 weekends ago!) but only 1 of the climbs looks difficult (more than 6%)
