There's a whole thread about running in the main sports section. I run as well.
Key things have been mentioned:
-You're already fit, which will help;
-Get a gait check done somewhere like Sweatshop so that you buy trainers with the correct angle support in them;
-Go hit the road;
-Take it VERY easy at first and keep the distances DOWN. As a cyclist you have the muscle strength, but none of your ligaments or support mechanisms round your knee (e.g. ITB, cruciate ligament etc) or ankle are very strong so can't take much running yet. Start gently and build up slowly!
I don't agree about forefoot running. It doesn't suit everyone. Sure it's more efficient and if you're naturally a forefoot runner then it's great, but if you aren't then you will be running in a way that is completely alien to you and you'll find it both difficult and probably injure yourself. I wouldn't be telling anyone they should be forefoot running.
