Pedestrian almost stepped out and biker bailed? Ped just strolls past?
To be fair, that biker should have seen it coming. He's on the inside of the traffic on a big bike and it's a stationary pinch point. He should have been prepared to stop anyway and foreseen that someone was probably going to try and cross there. On top of that, it takes a LOT to lock up a motorbike front tyre at that speed in the dry. As an ex biker in London, I think that was mostly his fault and he'll be kicking himself about it later.

she ran out without looking, you can see it - I Was a bit too far but you can see it.. and she just walked off without asking if the guy was ok?!
Highlighted the important bits. If you ever get knocked off by a woman don't be surprised if she drives off or tries to pretend it didn't happen.

I really want to give a TT a go too actually. I need to think of a decent TT route to mess around on. I'd probably do better on a flat circuit rather than hill - I'm the opposite to you, being 6'1'' and about 20kg heavier :p

You should come down and do the Manc Wheelers/Stockport Clarion Monday night one. I'm not gonna be there the next couple of weeks but I'll be marshalling on the 15th I think. Only £3 and you don't need to be affiliated to a club to ride. It's not a fast course (like all Cheshire courses) but it's a good place to start.

Ah yeah, I remember you mentioning the Wheelers TT before. I'll see if I can get myself organised. What time on a Monday is it normally?

I see it now, hard to spot!

Valid points about preparation, he does seem to going pretty quickly towards a pinch point and stationary traffic with lots of pedestrians around...! If we assume grudas is moving at around 18-22mph, rider seems to speed up/pull away towards a red light and stationary traffic in (what I'm assuming) is a 30mph speed limit! :o

Totally unrelated - my Sportful baselayers are awesome! :D

I'm still feverish and wore base, jersey and jacket on my commute in this morning (12 degrees but cool wind). I cooked slightly as I'm having hot and cold sweats from this damn bug, didn't push myself too hard but with a pack on I'm quite a sweater anyways! Took my jacket off when at work and the rear of my jersey was soaked through, jersey and base off - my back was dry. Feeling the base it's only slightly damp, amazing wicking! :D

Yeah, I think I've had base layers all year so far. No mitts yet, always full finger gloves. I'm barely out of leg warmers. The weather is a joke.

I'd say just try and get out with short sleeves/mits and see what happens :) have been sleevess weather for the past 2ish months in my case.

Sign on between 6.30 and 6.50pm, first rider off at 7pm. Sign on is in the AZ car park opposite Bollington Lane near the junction of the A34 and A537 near Nether Alderley. You get all sorts there from people on steel road bikes to full TT machines to the guy I know who rode it on 98" fixed this week with a homemade disc wheel. :p It's a lot more informal than the Open TT events.

Back at work today and already planning Sundays ride :p

My climbing (and more importantly pacing) ability is coming on really well and I'm learning roughly what sort of pace, cadence, HR I can sustain before lactate or my lungs get the better of me.

Is it just me that prefers to stand on long climbs of over 10%? I find that whilst I can do 15%+ seated it's actually really tiring for me to do so, takes longer to recover from and isn't sustainable than if I were to just finish the climb standing when I feel myself slowing seated. I know it's not as 'efficient' but just feels more natural.

Sunday's plan is a 10 mile warm up over to Princes Risborough and to make it up Whiteleaf without having to stop *cough - fall - cough* () again (7/8 weeks ago now) and then loop back around and slog it up Kop Hill before heading over to Stokenchurch for some longer less aggresive climbs and then back home through Chinnor, Thame, Chearsley etc. 50m/3,400ft, maybe more or less. upto 60m/4,000ft depending how fresh I feel after those two.

The 'Kop Hill Climb' Segment if you weren't familiar. A nice little 20%+ at the top to finish me off :X

One ROSE XEON TEAM CGF-3100 Di2 - Ordered!!

Not sure on delivery/wait time yet - will confirm that asap. Can't see anything on the email. Just remember - if the wife asks - it was under £1000!!

I'm 6ft 3" with 90cm inside seem, the size calculator was flicking between 59 cm frame and 62cm - I think 62cm would be too big personally (if I put 89cm seem it was saying 59cm frame, if I put 90cm seem it said 62cm frame)

Went with 59cm for now - got a 1 month no quibble return if needed but can't see a 62cm frame being the right one.

Currently ride a CAAD8 XL which i think is a 60cm frame but had to go with a fairly short stem 90mm. Gone with 59cm frame and 110mm stem.

Confirmed Assembly date estimated 24/7/2015!:(:(

At least a week after that for shipping - hopefully get it for the end of the summer! lol

Guess that's standard fair for mail order etc

I think its good to be able to do both in and out of the saddle. I vary depending on a number of factors. Gradient, fatigue, length of climb the pace of those around me. Sometimes I practice hill reps on a local 1km climb near me and will do a mixture of high cadence, low cadence, standing, sitting. Standing does help on steeper sections but occasionally if its too steep the front wheel comes up or the back wheel slips.

Whiteleaf was't too bad when I did it last year. i keep meaning to head over there again and try another effort. Its Chiltern 100 this weekend and that is quite a demanding and hilly route. I'd ride it but plainly object to paying £42 to ride on roads that I can ride for free anytime.

Well after a couple of weeks of saying I'll get back on my bike, i finally did tonight. Just a short run as i was breathing through my arse most of the way and the headwind out didn't help that!

First time using my new heart rate monitor but not sure if the rates shown are good or bad

My bike was clunking a bit but not sure where from so I'll need to check that out to make sure its not a bad thing!

Apart from the heart rate monitor I've also recently bought that £30 stand that someone posted a few pages back. Solid bit of kit for the money and no doubt will get a fair bit of use out of it as well.

Here's tonights short run https://www.strava.com/activities/312302153

Thanks, worth knowing about the wheels lifting/slipping. I've practised moving my weight around when stood to vary the muscle groups used but this could also come in handy to combat this.

Agreed, don't think I'd pay £42 to ride on free roads either!

Another threshold session this evening with TrainerRoad, 'Gray'. 2 x 20 mins @ FTP, definitely need to bump mine up a bit as you can see it was a bit too comfortable with a nice little grind at the end. Definitely need to get a fan set up though as I have a swimming pool in my garage now! 2 litres of fluid down the hatch.

lol came to a mini roundabout earlier and was directly behind a waiting bus .

I set off exactly when the bus did but slowed slightly to let it do it's thing but remained visible and not hugging the inside like a ****.

some woman in a stupid little red car came tearing into the roundabout from a different direction and started making a weird face at me when I didn't slow down so she could barge past.....

I shouted **** off at full volume to her but she was gone when I turned around to give chase :(

Hate mental people that think they have more rights to the road. she clearly thought she had right of way or was paying to much attention to the bus with tunnel vision then decided to blame me because shes blind as a bat.

strava must show me waiting at that roundabout for a good 20-30seconds.. no way I was not going to follow the bus, I was literally about 6ft behind it on the dividing line in the road when I entered the roundabout at 15mph...

Aren't you supposed to give priority to traffic coming from your right at roundabouts?

I was already entering the roundabout with a bus and I see no give way signs me and the bus were already waiting at the roundabout as I said.

Bus driver opened a gap/went for one whatever, no one was coming from the right and I was going with him

my bike was already entering the roundabout before she even accelerated, I think she literally was watching the bus and didn't bother to look at anything else

I think I cost her about 3 seconds.

it's impossible she entered the roundabout before for me, she should still have been checking the right is clear whilst waiting for the bus to move across ?
