Is that the Pearl Izumi series? I'd like to see that, but none of the races are near me.

It is bloody windy out there. I've just done 25 miles in it and it's horrendous. Honestly, I'm so fed up of this weather. It's been like this since January.

I mentioned this at work yesterday. So far this year we haven't had a proper summers day, not a single real shorts and T-shirt day. If its sunny its been cold or had a cool breeze.

Climbed the tiny hill near my house today and it utterly destroyed me. We're talking about 40ft of climbing :/ Fairly sure I'm ill. Either that or I've suddenly lost 90% of my fitness (actually wouldn't be shocked).

Can anyone help me please.

I need cables and crimps for my brakes and my gears on my road bike and I need cables and crimps for my brakes and gears on my 29er mtb, I also need a cassette (already got a chain) for my 29er.

Roadie, Giant Defy 3
Mtb, Trek Marlin 6 29er

Thank you in advance! :)

What do you guys up North consider cold? I've been shorts and short sleeved jersey since April, although I am on the South coast.
This morning was a little nippy (8'C), but didn't really notice it once I got going.

I flew past a guy on a hybrid this morning, who decided to chase me up the small hill to work. Made a nice change to have some friendly competition, I never usually see other cyclists on my commute, usually just angry people on motorbikes :)

I've booked my bike in for a proper service, I think the bearings probably need a re-grease, and I have an issue where my chain is a bit 'grindy' on the lowest two gears. So figured it was time to, especially now I have the CX fixed. Guess they're pretty busy now the season has kicked off, as the earliest they could fit me in was the 11th.

I'm starting to get wound up about this. Yesterday was beaut but I think we've had 2/3 days like this all year, if that and its bugging me now as the back end of last year was beaut!

Could do with some nice weather now!

Stop being weak haha!

I've been in shorts and a short sleeve jersey for a while too, though up until about a month ago I'd sometimes wear my thin windbreaker jacket on particularly cold days.

Since I changed my route and started coming to work earlier I see a lot less cyclists (Wilmslow Road, which was my old route, is one of the busiest student corridors in the country). I kind of miss the odd race that used to happen, though I also don't miss the masses of "cyclists" that have no awareness of themselves or anything around them.

Yeah, the weather hasn't been awesome though there have been a reasonable number of dry days at least. I remember about three or four years ago we had a summer that was literally 90% rain. It was really depressing..and damp.

Wish I could stop being weak - haven't felt right for the last two weeks and if anything it's getting worse /waa, etc.

For the cables, get a jagwire kit on eBay. It'll cost about a tenner.

Different up north, I always layer up, but I've now had the past few weekends and even the easter weekend when I started in arm warmers and jacket, but once warmed up was down to cool layer, jersey and shorts. Looks to be going the same again this weekend.

But as others have said the wind has been rubbish and barely eased for quite a while.

First time using my new heart rate monitor but not sure if the rates shown are good or bad

My bike was clunking a bit but not sure where from so I'll need to check that out to make sure its not a bad thing!

Apart from the heart rate monitor I've also recently bought that £30 stand that someone posted a few pages back. Solid bit of kit for the money and no doubt will get a fair bit of use out of it as well.

Here's tonights short run https://www.strava.com/activities/312302153

To be honest when I got my stand it was one of those 'what do I need for christmas' kinda things, but now I have it it's probably one of my most used 'tools'! Really surprising how easy it makes nearly every bike related job!

Good ride to ease yourself back in and keep up with the HRM, your HR seems similar to mine - all over the place but it recovers quickly from the hard efforts which is a good sign of health/fitness. You'll have to do a lot of the 'work' yourself when using HR as a training aid, while you're getting some riding fitness back and learning about your HR use it to judge the efforts you're putting in. You'll soon be able to figure out what HR is sustainable when pushing hard, when climbing, when standing and what type of HR you can ride sweetspot at.

I mostly use my HR as a guide to what I'm trying to achieve, I'll mostly ride by 'feel' when pacing myself with a quick glace at HR to confirm I'm around 145-155bpm which I know I can sustain. If I'm on a long early climb I'll usually use HR to make sure I've 'backed off' enough (<160bpm).

what trip computers do most people use on here?

Got an 810, but would recommend the 510 (810 not worth the price difference).

Took a walk over to watch a bit of the tour series. Guys can corner at some speed. One guy looked like he was about to slide out.

That solo guy in the first video did look to come close! Great videos and pics :)

It's not 'summer' yet! It's not even June! ;)

Out of interest, why would you say the 810 is not worth the difference? Is it just because you don't use the navigation features (in which case, I'd agree)?

I have actually been thinking lately that the 510 with mapless navigation could kind of work for some routes.

wow my knee went BAD, big time.. not even sure why or what?! had rest for good two days after last week commuting etc.. and yesterday on the ride to gym it was seriously painful.. even worse today! stupid thing is that I can walk, jump, run up the stairs etc no problems but get on the bike and bam!

seriously now... :|

I've cycled to many unknown places with mapless navigation on my 500. Set course points 200 feet ahead of turnings with bikehike and it does the job perfectly.

Cleats?? Could one of them have slipped and changed angle slightly? That happened to a mate of mine. Have you changed saddle position, that always does my knees in, if I haven't go it exactly right.
