Well after my ~54 hilly miles on Saturday I was going to take it easy and just commute this week...
But, my mate dragged me out last night as the weather was clear. Slightly short notice as I'd only got my commuting gear with me (and no gels, tabs or energy!), so we took it fairly easy but then had to call a stop to our planned route as my mate was getting bad stomach cramps. I'd felt quite strong and had gapped him a few times, really wondered what was going on as my legs should've been tired!

They felt ok, lacking some strength and standing climbs were a no-no but otherwise I was riding well. Some light showers and plenty of headwinds but we seemed to miss most of the rain as the roads were wetter in town than when we left. It turned into a bit of an adventure on some rough bits of road, me towing him at an easy pace while he tried to recover and then headwinds most of the way back. We somehow managed 22 miles at 17mph average!

I've now done around 85 miles in 4 days. I'm not riding next weekend (away to the beach for the dogs holiday) so hoping I can get out on thursday night too (weather depending). Bike fit saturday morning! What do I need to take with me? I'll be riding there so just going to dress as if I'm going on a leisure ride with a tabbed drink.
Sportwool should wick better. It's also softer and more comfortable, and it doesn't get stinky nearly as quickly as polyester.
Ahhh that explains it, I'd read before about some of the different synthetic textiles used but reading into most of the jerseys on wiggle the vast majority are a high polyester percentage with small amounts of elastane...?
Only?! My front light is 15 lumen

That is only a 'be seen' light though. My seeing light is 2000 chinese lumens which I think equates to about 75 in proper money
My 'main' go to commuting light is a
Cateye Volt 100, now I'm riding more I do want a better light for open roads. The 100 lumen is ok for clear roads but once rain/snow and other lights (cars) around it lacks enough 'punch' to light the road enough to travel at >10mph.
I also run a Cateye RC front and RC mini rear as 'be seen' lights. I've used them through the summer too, run the rear ever ride and the front when visibility is reduced/wet and filtering through traffic.
I've been looking at the
Cateye EL340 (1000 lumen) as for the price it sounds ideal.
Through the winter last year I did wear a helmet mounted
Leyzne Macro Duo which is around another 100 lumen, being helmet mounted it is great for a 'be seen' light - you can easily direct it at cars to be sure they see you (and being 100 lumen isn't really blinding bright).
(W)anchor!
Improved my 11 and a bit miles hilly ride by 2:35 last night. Get ting there
Good going! Keep it up!
The Mrs has expressed an interest in moving to Australia, so obviously my first concern is what the cycling is like out there
Killer Snakes. Killer Spiders. Roo's as big as you and invisible killer jellyfish! Quite why everyone is flocking over there I don't know... (See you there in ~20 years)
New pair of shorts last night. Now, I knew my other ones were a bit knackered, but WHAT a difference a new pad makes!
Which shorts? How many miles/years have the old pair done?
