So I've just paid the deposit on a new bike. Trek Domane 5.9

Finally, a bike that fits me :) I had a go on the 2015 model in the shop, and was such an improvement, it didn't feel like I was over reaching for the pedals anymore. Can't wait to try out Di2!

Got to wait 2 weeks for a it to be delivered to the shop. Although, I've just realised I forgot to choose a colour scheme. Maybe I should call them back incase it's bright pink :P - Ah looks like it only comes in 1 colour, nevermind :)

:D Very nice! where did you get it from?

Cycleworld in Hillsea mate. Quite impressed with the service so far. I can't believe I contacted 4 other shops locally, told them my budget and none of them got back to me. Maybe I should change careers and open a bike shope :)

The only downside, I wanted an 11-32 cassette, but the rear mech that's compatible isn't available until October :/

Round the corner from me! Won't need an 11 32! Not with that bike!

I did just go for it as I got bored sitting on Paul's wheel. You're right in that I should have just went to the front of the group and worked together, I am an ******** as I said to Vince haha. Think I kept the speed too high on the last drag to the border on the way out.

Good result getting up there at the end, more than I've ever managed. Remember we had towed Ruari along the whole way!

I overtook you on Strathaven road and tried to sit in front of you for shelter but it wasn't going to work so booted it into the distance.....

Ah, was that you? I was wondering why the car slowed up after you'd passed. Tbh I needed your lights as much as the shelter!

I thought we worked pretty well as a group on the way out. Decent pace into the wind and most folk put turns in. I need to get my gears sorted though as couldn't get into the 11 tooth properly most of the way round. Really annoying on the fast run in. So you'll probably see me at the shop at some point soonish.

Oh and happy birthday btw. :)

My Espressos have arrived. Superb quality. I got one in a S and an M so I could see which fitted the best.

So I've donned full winter kit to try the fit out. They both fit very well with not much difference between them. There is just slightly more room across the chest in the M when my arms are out either side of me, but really the difference between them is unnoticeable when in a "cycling" position.

I think ill go for the M just to be safe. And if I needed a thicker Jersey underneath I have that bit extra room.

Anyone here with a Castelli Espresso in size small?? I can't imagine how small you need to be for it to fit perfectly. I'm pretty tiny.

I keep smashing time off my route home, but as everyone always says, it never feels any easier, just push harder. Shame I have no time at the mo to squeeze any more than my pitiful 6.5km ride. I might have to stretch a 15km in if I can find a gap tomorrow.

I need some new shoes, I've managed to crack the back of mine. What do people recommend for SPDs which won't break the bank?

I bought some North Wave Scorpius SRS from Evans reduced from £100 to £60, really comfy and nice and sturdy.

Very flashy, guy at my work has an older Domane and is only now looking at changing the Bontrager wheels for Sciroccos. He loves his (his sons have Cube and Time and he's ridden them all multiple times). Pretty sure you'll love it!

I notice it's got a '3S chain keeper', is that really needed with Di2 and it's auto-indexing? Also 'hidden mudguard mounts'? :D

This was a little close for comfort, think I need more front lights :P

Close but at least he saw you - didn't have to hammer on his brakes to stop! Conditions looked a bit meh, had you got front lights on? Any front facing highviz?

Best to have a bit of flap in something like that, rather than so tight if you wear a thermal base/jersey you can't breathe!

Good call on the Northwaves, I'm wearing Shimano XC30's and only paid about £60 for them 2 years ago! They've lasted well so a vote for Shimano for value! Although mine are long overdue to be replaced... Bike fit first and will probably move to SPD-SL next spring (really fancy myself some yellow Sidi's!).

I'm eating my words here, but SRAMs eTap does look really rather good. Especially at that price point, in a year or so it'll become a genuine alternative to Di2 pending no warranty fails. Looking forward to when it trickles down to Force.

Woke up to a 'uh-oh' notification from Strava because I'd lost a KOM.

Checked this morning and the ride must've been flagged as I'm still KOM :)

You only like it because it doesn't support hydraulic discs :p

Cheers for that Wez, I'll have a gander at those. Though the Mrs is getting the hump, saying I can't buy anything, even though the bloody back is falling off these. I'll get them delivered to work instead :p
