Side note: how have you found the 6600K? What did you upgrade from and what clockspeeds? I'm stuck trying to decide if my 2700K @4.6 is worth upgrading (probably not as it will do 5.2 for benching...)

Not to dilute this thread too much but it's absolutely not worth upgrading from an SB cpu that does much above 4ghz. You'll see bugger-all difference outside of synthetic benchmarks and some productive apps that you don't care about (I presume).

You killed yourself shutting down that break yourself. You should have just come through and upped the pace but let some others come help, as right after you went Colin, Stuart and I put a wee burst in and brought it back by the descent from the border anyway. It was just constant attacks like that on the way in but it makes things a lot easier trying to bring them back as a group - although kudos on bridging across yourself cos you were hammering it! I couldn't get on your wheel.

I got a good position up that last ramp to the bridge and thought i was sat in a good spot 3rd wheel coming into the sprint, but then Kyle and Rhuari went blazing past like i was stood still. :D

My ride home after was sketchy with only a wee flashing front light. Was pretty dark by the time i got there. Summer definitely over now then. :(

I did just go for it as I got bored sitting on Paul's wheel. You're right in that I should have just went to the front of the group and worked together, I am an ******** as I said to Vince haha. Think I kept the speed too high on the last drag to the border on the way out.

Good result getting up there at the end, more than I've ever managed. Remember we had towed Ruari along the whole way!

I overtook you on Strathaven road and tried to sit in front of you for shelter but it wasn't going to work so booted it into the distance.....

Yeah, had already semi come to that conclusion was just after some real world feedback! ;)

Truth is my SB was a mostly S/H build so it feels like ages since I bought/built anything *new*, my money seems to get spent on cycling instead! ;)

Need a bigger SSD so may change that (and move to W10) along with a rebuild into a larger case (H440) to sort a cooling 'issue' (damn hot days & running 2 cards!).

Getting back on track, I'm looking at S/H laptops to replace an old vista Dell, what 'not-high-end' setups has everyone had working with Zwift? What are the GPU requirements like as I'm sure that's going to be the decider...

Comp talk:
Just get an extra SSD. No need to stop using the old one. Once again, benefits of upgrading are minimal in terms of real world performance. Switching from two cards to one would almost certainly increase performance for not much money and reduce heat too.

I can't imagine Zwift has high graphics requirements given how fugly it is. It's a shame that it'd be awkward to use in-home streaming with it though.

Part of my 'plan' would be putting an SSD in the 'new' laptop to avoid some of the speed issues, probably the one out of my build to avoid buying another (I do have another but it's not 'spare' currently). I would put W8 or W10 on it also. Knowing me it would ideally be an i5 with 6-8gb RAM so the only requirement for me running swift (well!) will be the GPU.

I'm not seeing any throttling with my GPU's (7970's) and during the hot weather I actually only gamed on 1 of them, temps ~70-80 on the card(s) on air and ~40 on my AIO CPU cooler which is also 75% case exhaust of the GPU heat. It's not near overheating, just uncomfortable gaming on it at the end of a hot day! Then again not many of them left...!

New SSD = slight excuse for a rebuild ;)

So I've just paid the deposit on a new bike. Trek Domane 5.9

Finally, a bike that fits me :) I had a go on the 2015 model in the shop, and was such an improvement, it didn't feel like I was over reaching for the pedals anymore. Can't wait to try out Di2!

Got to wait 2 weeks for a it to be delivered to the shop. Although, I've just realised I forgot to choose a colour scheme. Maybe I should call them back incase it's bright pink :P - Ah looks like it only comes in 1 colour, nevermind :)

Power meters, the stages ones just look like they're stuck onto crank arms... ?
why can't you just buy the stick on bit without the cranky arm bits?

Nice bike but...where's the discs? :( :p

On the CX bike :) 2 different shops persuaded me against the discs, that was the original plan though.

That's because lots of noob roadies don't like discs for no good reason ;)

That was the worst video I've ever seen.

I just flicked through it with the volume muted and then read a few comments. Even that was a waste of my time - well, work time.
