Agreed, at the very least they should offer to send you replacement bearings as I don't think they're expensive are they? Certainly much cheaper (and easier for you) than you sending the wheel back or them to service and repair.

Yep, may be worth an email. Official fulcrum ones are £17 for four.

They measure 12x28x8mm and are tyre 6001RS. I guess I could get them cheaper from the bay. £7.56 for four. I only need two. So £3.78.
Anyone had any experience with this, specifically changing bearings for non 'standard' ones?

Yep, i've changed bearings on a fulcrum 7 wheel. I think i bought SKF branded bearings as replacements.
I just used a couple of sockets from my socket set as a drift to bash them in. I dont have a bearing press.

I did the 2 bearings on a front hub with no problems, I didnt do the rear but i remember looking at it and thinking that it would be more difficult to remove the old bearings from that hub. Might need some sort of bearing puller.

Turbulence jacket seems pretty decent. A little cold on setting off but that quickly passes. I think the arms could do with being a bit more breathable but I'll live with it as-is. It's small enough that I can easily carry it in a back pocket during the spring/summer/autumn so I've always got an emergency rain/wind jacket.

I've been riding with the below through winter. I should've got two sizes smaller as it wouldn't have been so bulky then but I can't complain about the breathability or how water proof it is. Pretty warm too.

Looks good but complete overkill for me! I tend to go towards multiple layers so I can wear things on more occasions - that coat looks like middle of winter/torrential rain wear to me? Now I've gone specific cycling jackets I think I'd find it hard to go back to something un-fitted without the extras you get with cycling-specific: dropped rear, cut for raised arms, under arm vents & slim 'fitted' feel. Then again the price is well out of the budget I give myself for cycling wear (I'm a cheapskate I know )! :D

Just placed an order for a few bits from Wiggle including http://www.wiggle.co.uk/craft-active-crew-neck-long-sleeve-base-layer which get good reviews but i've never had Craft stuff before.

Talking of workstands I bit the bullet and went for one which I hope will last forever , http://www.evanscycles.com/products/park/pcs10-folding-repair-stand-ec007643, got it price matched for £105. It arrived yesterday and I have to say it looks very impressive in the flesh

Looks like a good base, I've got a few Craft items but mostly accessories rather than clothing (skull caps, helmet rain cover & socks) I've been pleased with. I got these base layers for winter (& snowboarding) and they're fantastic, only worn them a couple of times when cycling as overheat in them unless temps are below -2/-3! I do wear them with thermal jersey and a jacket though...

Stand looks good, watched the video and it looks strong and sturdy. It's like a sturdier version of the one I got, same putup-takedown and adjustments :)

I get my bearings from a local supplier. usually better bearings for less money.

You'll always get better quality bearing for a fraction of the costs of cycling specific ones, like with anything cycling - if you can cut out the branding side of it you can save a bunch and sometimes get better quality.

re PX orders with the random voucher code, anyone has had their processed? or canceled? no idea what the status of mine is, ordered while I was on my phone at the gym lol and forgot to log-in.

Mine got processed but just had an email asking where I got the code from before they'll confirm the order.

I've had a chance to take a look at my Fulcrum Racing 5 front hub.

Yep, one of the bearings has gone. I've regreased, reassembled and it is still just as bad as it was to begin with. New bearings it is then. Pretty poor after only 5 months of use.

How easy was this to do? My Fulcrum 5 front hub isn't as smooth as I'd like, but i've no idea how to take the hub apart and repair.

So I'll soon be taking delivery of a Wahoo Kickr! :D:eek: Super excited! Got a lot of long days at work coming up, so will see plenty use well into the summer, if I want a quick after work spin and can't make it outside/can't be bothered after a long day at work.

I already use TrainerRoad, so I hope the marriage is as good as people say it is!

Really easy once I figured it out. Which model year are yours??

Mine are the 2014 model and the documents on the Fulcrum website don't seem to refer to the 2014 model. I struggled to find much info on the 2014 model specifically.

They have documents for the 2013 model on their site: http://www.fulcrumwheels.com/system/documents/files/014-FRONT_HUB_ASSEMBLY-DISASSEMBLY_23-01.pdf

I cant remember if there is a circlip holding the axle in place or just friction. Either way, it's really easy to take the axle out and get at the bearings.

You can knock the old bearings out with a long, narrow drift through the middle of the hub. I think I used an old 10mm axle and a hammer to get the old ones out.

You need to be careful tapping the new ones in. Only apply pressure to the metal outer edge of the bearing. I found a socket in my socket set which was just the right size to rest on the outer edge of the bearing and not make any contact with the plastic shield or the inner metal part.
Take your time gently tapping and make sure they go in straight, dont just whack them in.

Mine (2014) had no circlip. Instead it was a case of pulling/prising the axle end off. The piece I'm referring to is 2nd from the left in my photo.

Everything else then slid/unscrewed off revealing the bearings.

Sweet! Totally jealous! Have you come from using another Turbo Trainer to the KICKR?

Double figure temperatures forecast for the weekend!

Yeah, for half an hour, maybe.

;)

About to commute home, it looks nice and calm compared to earlier (& yesterday) but by all accounts it's quite cold.

Slight change of plans to my rest day that I wanted later in the week (so I could do a weekend ride). Tomorrow I've gotta now go to one of our remote sites near Birmingham that we're decommissioning to bring some of the IT equipment back, so that means coming in early to avoid some traffic on the M5/M42 and probably means I'll be late back too = no cycle commute for me! :(

But then I could also have a rest day friday as well...? Do an extra long ride on the weekend?! Tempting! :D:rolleyes:;)
