The carriageway "improvements" they made to the road out to Cheadle from Parrs Wood have made it lethal. Narrowed the road significantly to add a bike lane on the pavement, which cars just use as parking for the playing field. Not to mention you now have to cross the road to use the bike lane from start to finish.

I concur that these 'improvements' not only took ages to build and was bloody annoying for ages on rides out south but have done bugger all to improve the road.

Second wave of funding? Newcastle seems to be sitting on their cycling money... Nothing has been done with the first wave

No sign of any waves around here, not even an initial one! Council doesn't even have money for hedgecutting/roadside trimming or any pothole repairs, nevermind anything new!

About to commute home... Wind looks to have died down and it looks dry - will probably change by the time I've got myself changed! :D

I'll get you a better pic! think I may have got the hex bolt from the other mount I had that's probably the reason why you don't have it, afaik superstar won't do much RE that because garmin bolt is a bit different..

How right you were!

Unfortunately the bolt you require is not supplied with our mounts as a bolt is included with the GoPro cameras for which it is intended.
The bolt you will need is an M5x20mm bolt, this should be easy to get hold of online or from your local hardware store.

Off to eBay i go

here's a video of the tile/plastic thing that hit me today! still unsure of what it was!

and yeah it was a close call! scary to think what would happen if it got jammed between my spokes.

Now I've seen that again and realise what it is I'm surprised theres no dink in your paintwork as those things are really solid plastic! Also think he could've missed it but as mentioned damn lucky there wasn't more damage! :o

My bike has 'developed' an annoying 'click' when mid-cassette when pedalling. Nothing when free-wheeling and nothing low in the cassette. Noise is coming from the wheel/cassette/derailleur area.

Video here, sound is low (sorry) but no loud noises so crank your volume up :p

Any ideas? This is after some wet weather and cleaning... I've refitted the back wheel and it's not made any difference :/

@Derek W - I'd buy a cheap full toolkit if I were you. The Icetoolz Essence kit is a good bet, or the Planet X Jobsworth.

As for a chain... Get a KMC with their new ecoteq coating - it's supposed to be super rust proof which is what you need given the pics in the old thread!

Yeah I was looking at one tool kit on wiggle for 90quid but I'll take a look at those suggestions.

On the chain front, I've given the chain / rear cassette a quick scrub with the dirt juice cleaner and one of the brushes in the cleaning kit and there's a marked improvement already. Amazing what difference it makes looking after things properly! Who'd have thunk it :p

Lol ;)

That Juice Lubes stuff is good but go steady on it, I've nearly used a whole bottle in around 8 weeks... Gets expensive then! (then again my first clean was 4 bikes, 3 of them very mucky).

The Jobsworth kit from Planetx is a great basic kit to start with, I picked up mine on a sale for £16 I think. Also can't rate their adjustable bike stand enough, it's fantastic! Even better the half-price deal I got it on (rather than their full price). For full price this one is possibly a better buy. I tend to hunt down deals (can you tell) ;)

Feeling pretty tired as I combined two days of my TR training plan today. 42 miles on the turbo. I don't know how I stayed awake through it :s

Saw you had been busy! I'm planning on doing one evening this week... Maybe tomorrow if I do my recovery Wednesday. Although I should probably do it later in the week as if I'm riding this weekend (I want to try doing ~30 miles if I can plan a fairly flat route).

Went out for a bit tonight, legs ended up feeling superb so treated them to an FTP lap of Richmond Park. New 20min power PB for the year, as well as lap pb at 18:39. Still felt like I had more to give too. Very similar to my peak power last year in July, in March, so pretty chuffed with that :)

Impressive ride mate, mad average speed for that flying lap and very impressive HR. I love that feeling when you can hold high effort (I'm meaning HR here as obviously can't relate to your power), but I've only had it a couple of times! ;)

Thanks :) Slightly surprised at HR usually up over 180 consistently for that sort of power.

36 in a 20 limit? Outrageous! :p

Urgh, the connector pin I used with my Shimano chain must not have been inserted right as now one side of the link is loose off the pin, new KMC chain with quick link ordered as it always feels I never get connecting the links right :o

Picked up my boardman team carbon the other day haven't had a proper long ride yet, but it handles very well and I managed not to fall off despot never having used cleats before! It'll definitely get used for my commute to work over my hybrid, but the shoes are too much of a nuisance to pop into town with, so the hybrid stays I think!

well.. here's my response to last post from Roady -;

I'll get you a better pic! think I may have got the hex bolt from the other mount I had that's probably the reason why you don't have it, afaik superstar won't do much RE that because garmin bolt is a bit different.. and that mount is advertised as gopro compatible but give it a shot see what happens, their service over-all seems quite good.

It was a scaffold tredda plate.

This is also a very cheap maintence stand but very sturdy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bicycle-B...336?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3a8ffa2440

There's several of those around here, it's safer to actually ride on the road where most of them are as they go across the ends of peoples drives/over big drain covers/dropped tarmac for lowered pavements etc!:o

Edit: Shimano 'Windbreak' performance bib tights for £40 (I've no idea on Shimano branded clothing quality?) - only Small and XS available though.

I have a shimano jersey and it's pretty decent.

I've had a chance to take a look at my Fulcrum Racing 5 front hub.

Yep, one of the bearings has gone. I've regreased, reassembled and it is still just as bad as it was to begin with. New bearings it is then. Pretty poor after only 5 months of use.
