Khamsins on Planet X for £75... tempting as a backup set...
Agreed, although they're not the 'MEGA G3' set meaning they're probably 2015 wheels. Still pretty awesome for the price!

They really that bad?! What pads are you using with them?
I'm guessing they will be the Zipp Tangente Platinum pads that normally come with the Zipps. Braking in the dry is awesome but as my Propel is a dry weather bike (I use my Ribble in wet weather) I haven't had to experience carbon wheels in wet weather. From what I have read, its a case of wooohhaaa nothing happening then it starts working.
Nothing... nothing.... nothing.... ALL BRAKING FORCE IN WORLD!
Braking on carbon in the rain is a mans game for sure. It's terrifying, in an amazing way.
What part worn 25mm tyres have you got? How part worn is part worn?
- Zipps with conti TTs on (25s)
- Mavic Ksyrium Pro with Mavic Yksium Pro Griplink on front & Powerlink on the rear, 25s (temp on the trainer)
- Campag Zondas with conti 4 Seasons on 25s (now off the trainer due to snapped spoke)
- Mavic's Aksium Elite with conti gp4000 IIs 25s
Handbuilt H Plus Son Archetype rims on Miche Primato hubs, with 25mm Pro 4 SC tyres, on the best bike.
Handbuilt Mavic Open Sport rims on Tiagra hubs, with 23mm Lithion 2 tyres, on the crap bike.
Heavy as arse unbranded single speed wheels on the single speed commuter.
Buggered Miche Track Xpress wheels, the rear of which has multiple broken spokes. This is going into the bike shop this weekend, then on eBay once it's fixed.
R500 wheels with Vittoria Zaffiro tyres, currently on eBay.
I've got a set of random Kenda mini-CX tyres which I need to get rid of. I've only got one other spare tyre at the moment, which is a Pro 4 SC.
lol!Nothing... nothing.... nothing.... ALL BRAKING FORCE IN WORLD!
Go a little slower when you know you'll have to stop (like at an access gate)?it's nothing nothing nothing ANCHORS DOWN! Coming in to something from 40-50kph to standstill, like the access gate at work this morning, gives you a bit of a bum twitch.
Is it pick on Roady day?! Sure send it over, I'll commute on it for 6 months and see what happensone of my rear Lithions has a few nasty cuts in it. Or as Roady would describe it, it's perfect![]()
Lovely weather outside - if only my day off on Friday wasn't predicted to be the complete opposite.
I got a KOM on my ride back to work at lunch...which would be awesome were it not for the fact that I already had KOM on that segment. Bah.
Your new bike, did you go for the Flyer in the end? I'm still really tempted by it as a commuter.
I think my cough has finally abated enough for me to go out for a gentle ride this evening. Gotta check my bike is shifting well in time for cycling in the Lake District on the weekend.
Yep. I'm going to Evans tomorrow night to collect it, and I should be riding it into work next week. We'll have to go for lunch one day and I can let you admire it![]()
What routes are you doing on the lakes again? I want to go back out there sometime this year. Maybe try and get a better time on Great Dun Fell (rather than being near enough completely at the bottom of the charts).
Nope, I'll be using the freewheel! My knees feel delicate enough as it is!
In other news... Has anyone got any recommendations for decent cheap brake pads? You can Lifeline ones at Wiggle for £3 for 4 pads, but the reviews aren't..
I have some you can have for nowt, they are Swiss stop blue I think. They are just the pad so you will need the holders. I also have a set of pads that came with my Propel frameset that I don't have a clue what they are.
