Really? With no punctures and no loss of grip, why replace? Maybe I just need to corner harder to wear them more evenly? :p

Higher chance of blowout. And whether or not you believe you lost grip, there was a loss. Otherwise, why would they bother having the rubber outer coating at all? :)

Technically it's possible to run tyres way beyond their life...and often you can get away with it. It doesn't mean to say that you should though.

True, I don't want to cause damage to the roads... Oh wait. ;)

They're not quite as bad as my mates were back in the autumn...

Damage to the roads? I suppose having your skin and bones smeared all over them when you have a blow out whilst descending wouldn't be ideal for other road users but I'd be more concerned about myself personally.

I'd have had them changed long ago. But mainly as it being the only thing from stopping me eat the road, and being like 25quid a piece, it seems like I'll give the bike all the chance it has to keep me up on it :p haha

Got my place for the Ride 100 confirmed. Doing it for charity along with 2 guys from work. Don't have to raise a silly amount of money which is good, and it's for a worthwhile cause.

Nice. How much do you have to raise?

I didn't get a ballot place but have since entered the 40 mile course ballot... Doubt I'll get a place on that either but if I do i'd be tempted to gun it off the line and try catch up to the 100 mile route and 'accidentally' join it :p

I wonder how they going to prevent riders from the short course following the 100 mile route?

ffs back pain again, off the bike for another 2 weeks again :(
sick of this now, I want to cycle !!!!!

I'm assuming you've been to a physio about this?

I think the short course starts after the 100 mile, so I'm assuming they just close a road?

As for how much I need to raise, it's only £400 :)

My rear GP4 Seasons was looking flat and a bit worn in places (down to the puncture layer from potholes & road debris) but the front perfectly ok. I've only punctured them from pinch punctures too!
State of the rear:

EEEEWWWWWWW. Get those manky things off your machine ASAP!

So I think I have just built myself a wheel tonight! :D Not as hard as I thought but going to get the bike shop to true it up and give it a once over. Seems to be relatively straight!

Skills. Front or rear wheel? What's the specs?

I've spannered the Claris groupset off my old TdF and listed it on eBay. Tomorrow I clean the frame and the Tiagra parts that came off my RT-58 and start putting the whole lot together. It's getting boring now.

Mtb wheel but hope pro evo hub laced to a mavic xc717 rim. Replaced the hub. 32 spokes rear.
