So I've just ordered a set of Khamsins :o TBH there is nothing wrong with my current wheels but I was looking at getting a turbo wheel anyway and for the small amount extra to get the Khamsins it seemed like a no brainer.

Can someone confirm though- will I need a spacer for a 9 speed cassette?

Are they 10 speed or 11? If 11, definitely yes. If 10..I'm not sure but I don't think so. I think it's 8 - 9/10 - 11 in terms of spacing stuff.

Ah, they are listed as 8/9/10/11. They include a 1.8mm spacer apparently. Run it without the spacer for 11 speed with for everything else. Q&A section of Chain Reaction is such a useful resource :D

New cassette ordered plus a couple of rolls of rim tape as some sources said they came with, others said not. Handy to keep as a spare whatever the case.

Mate of mine is out in majorca next month and looking for group rides. He's staying pollensa area, just wondering wheres best to get info or which shops do which days and speeds etc. He's not a bad rider but not a quick boy. Intermediate club rider level I'd say.

Shimano 8/9/10 are essentially the same, sometimes a sub-millimetre spacer is needed, but very little in it. 11 is wider, hence the spacer for using 10 (which should also be a-ok for 8/9)

You have impeccable taste ;)

I've finally got all the cables and tape on my tdf, so I can now bury it in the shed until winter. Then the Pompino can come out for cleaning and some touch up paint after last week's chain dropping disaster, and my Flyer can change its boots and get pressed into daily commuting duties.

So, my butt hurts.
Not saddle sores, skin is fine, and I feel like I could ride for hours if it was not for my butt getting sore!
It feels like pressure in just all the wrong places. I have tried two saddles, varying saddle heights and tilting the saddle etc.
It's really ruining the fun..
I don't feel like I can ride much more than an hour before it just gets really uncomfortable.
I have a few different types of shorts with padding but it does not seem to help much.. Any ideas?
I have a 6 hour ride coming up next month and I feel like I'm just going to be crippled by the end!

What saddles have you tried? there are a wide range of very different saddles.

I only know two that I find truly comfortable, one which went out of production in 1996 and one that costs £200. There are plenty I can tolerate for an hour or so, and there are a few that i'd prefer to stand up the whole way....

there are some good articles on measuring your sitbones using carboard or tinfoil on the internet, might be a good starting point

The only issue I'm having is that the rear mudgaurd creaks and groans a fair bit which is annoying.

You could find a LBS which does a saddle fitting service like idmatch to see if that points you in a different direction.

If you want to go further, a bike fit to assess you overall position could be money well spent. If you're anywhere near Birmingham or Basildon, I'd highly recommend a couple of hours with Bianca from FitYourBike, though you'd struggle to get in before June...

New shorts this morning - some own brand Evans ones that I got on my cycle to work deal. I got medium and they're a bit on the race fit side of things - curse my childbearing hips!

Cor, that's lovely :)

Do love the Genesis bikes - I'd never really considered them until I wandered past a new LBS with an Equilibrium in the window last spring. Accidentally wandered out 15 mins later having ordered one in for a test ride, which I subsequently bought..... oops!

Have you tried moving the saddle backwards or forwards? If it feels way off go all the way forward, try it. Go all the way back, try it. Pick whichever felt best and fine tune from there.

I made the mistake of buying a new saddle which didn't help but once I'd moved it forward a fair way (basically on the adjustment limit) it was all good.
