You're not putting enough power through them - Roady makes frames flex ;)
Obviously. :p
Get the cheapest 11 speed option you can find. Job done. That SRAM one is a pretty clear choice being a tenner cheaper than nearly all the other options.
Probably the smartest choice, ordered a few other essentials too and took a plunge on some Wiggle gels. Really enjoyed the 'Lemon Meringue' when I had one as part of the multipack they do so ordered a box of 20 lol

Wiggle gels well worth trying out if you want to try various flavours (I'd place them on par with High5 as Torq and Sis don't agree with me).

Recovery Shaker (have been using old bottles before now but they get stinky quick), not-so-warm arm & knee warmers. Gone for the wiggle arms to try them out as I'll mostly be wearing them when I just need something extra over short sleeved jersey. Castelli Nanoflex knees as they're replacements for my Sportful NoRain.

I'm still convinced he lubricates them with grinding paste. That or he's using the chain checker wrong.
Hush :p

I know I'm quite harsh on my chains, it's not lack of lube but certainly a lack of 'remove-clean-bathe-in-goats-milk-and-refit'. I tend to just wash/wipe them down and relube. Also tend to commute in the big dog only.

Happy? :p

knew it ;( my girly legs!

Roady - tbh I don't even have a chain cleaner.. I just wipe it off with an old rug and relube it and they seem to go for a decent amount of time!

my carbon bike has done 5k+ miles in all weathers and I've replaced the chain once, 99% of the journeys done on big ring.

in that case you're obviously just some kind of furious crush machine.

Anyone got a PX Pro Carbon? I want to get another commuter bike, as my one has lasted for 7 years now, god knows how many miles and is starting to look tired. Would still use that one as a winter one, PX one for spring/summer/autumn.

£899 for one seems a great deal

Mine has done nearly 8000 miles in 3½ years and is now my crap weather and winter bike. It's been great for me and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one at £899 with Ultegra.

I bought the chain checker after reading around regarding changing the chain before it increases any cassette and chainring wear. My cassette is barely worn but my chainrings do show quite a bit of wear - the first chain caused much of it and did go quite rusty (KMC rubbish) before it got removed at <800 miles. Since then (due to the cost of chainrings) I've always been very cautious of chain wear and replaced them all probably a little early. Choice between changing a £15-25 chain and ~£100 chainrings/cranks is a bit of a nobrainer for me.

I've run the current CN-HG701 longer than I normally would have, have noticed very little chainring wear (not that you can see that kinda thing anyway). But I have noticed how rough any chain feels around the 800+ mile mark. I like slick shifting!

Your chain replacing gives you enough reason to get a dura-ace cassette.

I've only ever changed MTB chainrings! Ridley ones were going strong for over 12k miles before I swapped the cranks. Chainrings don't go like cassettes.

Shall I grab a picture of my cassette and chainrings? To me the chainrings are showing more wear than the cassette!?:eek:

KMC made that shimano chain!! Rubbish indeed...
Code:
Chain	Shimano	CN-HG701 SIL-TEC	Jan 23, 2016	1,245.6mi
Chain	SRAM	X1 11	Sep 23, 2015	Jan 23, 2016	1,117.7 mi
Chain	Shimano	KMC X11L	Since Beginning (December 2014)	May 2, 2015	893.5 mi

Just going by what I see from my data! Although looking at that I should have more X1 11's listed so Strava must remove some duplicate worn items?! :o

I seem to spend the majority of my time in HR zone 4 on all my rides, is this right? I've never had a HR monitor before

Depends on what your MAX is and how it's configured your HR zones.
Also if you've not cycled in some time and have put in a good effort then you'll probably see your HR being quite higher, some regular cycling once again will reduce that. :)

Omg, what a horrendous day in work. Utterly scuppered my plans for an after work ride (finished 2 hours late, boo) and now I just want to eat pizza and drink beer. Still, I get to walk to the beer shop in the sun I guess.
