I got my first KOM (albeit this year) on saturday! I've hurt my left calf in doing so and had to cut my ride short on sunday. I'm going to do a light recovery ride on wednesday and hopefully i'll be ok for the weekend!

I'll be on the bike as usual. I wonder whether there'll be more than usual at work. It's been getting pretty crowded at the bike racks lately. I moved my lock this evening to another set of racks which are spaced out a bit better.

I got dropped on my head as a child so I'm a bit slow but... I don't get it.

I've cropped the ride, so it's all fine now. Something went funny about half a mile from home and I briefly travelled to the middle of the Atlantic and back, achieving a distance of about 1500 miles.

I did the support ride for Wings for Life!

Was awesome fun, and started off marshalling the lead male wheelchair, then when he dropped out, moved up to the lead female wheelchair, before on to lead female runner, and finally went on to catch the lead male shortly before he got caught. Just under 40 miles. What a runner, especially when you consider the Heat we had on Sunday.

Never ridden longer than 2 hours before, and that was on the turbo. So I took a beating! Never knew that riding slow for so long would be so hard.

Makes for a strange looking activity on Garmin connect:

Strava says 4:19 in the saddle, but not feeling too bad. Its fair to say I was probably under-prepared for the ride, but I figured I was there, so should just push it out and try to get to the end.

Very happy with the bike, and new tyres seemed to make a big difference to rolling resistance.

Wish I could manage to average 18mph on a ride. Let alone one of that distance.

Got my bike back after the chain snapped and managed about 33 and a bit miles.

I put in more hills than I usually would because why not? Didn't really have any energy left to attack the last one (or any of them, really), as I'd not really eaten all day. Also got bored of eating flies/having them land on me every 2 microseconds and it was getting dark/colder so I didn't go for the 40-something I thought I might attempt, once I got going.

Fell off sideways, bounced off a lorry I was stopping to let past me because I misjudge its length/speed/the size of the bit I pulled into and ended up in a heap on the floor. Grazed my leg in the process. Annoying and embarrassing. A passing cyclist thought I'd been knocked off so stopped, so that was nice.

I just had to tell him I was fat and inept.

I do love the area around my town, but some of the roads are in an abysmal state :(

Unless they're FSA chainrings!
They are!
Percentage. My max heart rate is about 190 and even moderate effort gets me to about 160.
Similar to me... Commuting I'm usually 150-170bpm, longer distance riding I'm 150-160, longer group rides I'm anywhere from 140-180! :)

I know I can sustain 160bpm over long distance, 170bpm when climbing but much over 180bpm I'm guessing is nearing my VO2max as I can't sustain it more than a few minutes.
I hope everyone is commuting tomorrow regardless of the weather.:)
Yup... Got soaked but had totally forgotten about the challenge. Didn't notice any more riders around, if anything, less due to the conditions!
Loving the URL! Will donate when I get tired of the spam... ;)

Went out for an impromptu ride last night with my mate, hadn't planned on riding and due to the humid weather I'd dug out an old pair of shorts to try commuting to see if they were worth keeping. Large DHB Flashlight bibshorts. I had to readjust the pad on them a couple of times & now my bottom feels like I spent the evening rubbing against sandpaper!

"HOWARJEEPFALAR" - the noise of a sprinting male cyclist trying to rapidly adjust a pad by tugging it, and not just tugging pad.

Semi-rest week now before my club 50 mile 'Charity ride' on saturday.
