What the deuce? A turbo trainer tyre on the front? :p

Those speeds aren't actually that crazy once you factor in the chain gang, flattish terrain and the lack of stops :)

Ha yes, awful choice of name from Specialized.

Agreed on the chaingang, the best thing to do is probably turn up for one and try and hang on for as long as possible. You might surprise yourself but if you get dropped then ride the rest of the route at your own pace or head out for a bit of extra training. No doubt each week you will get stronger.

Part of the challenge will just be your legs getting used to the different muscular challenge of pedalling at 40+ km/h in a group. That's part of the reason why pros do motorpaced rides. :)

You can get a Tate Labs BarFly and one of these: http://www.alwaysriding.co.uk/tate-...QdHh6dZNNXVA7o6muaEta91kPDSuFIgZS4aApZX8P8HAQ

Should work OK looking at the Moon?

I'm looking at that and really struggling to work out how the moon light would fit to it. This is the light/mount:

I'll message some of the shop staff and ask them to include a "little of their love" with your next OcUK order if you like? ;)
And if you get a half opened pack of Haribo I dare you to eat it...

I guess, Kyle is a fairly normal rider (but quite a bit quicker than me!) he's ridden CAT4 (with my neighbour) and is best mates with this guy who rides CAT3 and was the quickest on the chaingang by far. He's a machine (but think he's a PT). I need to get out riding with them and the 'sutton ride' is an easy one for me to start with (meets after I finish work & can get to it easily). Still think I'm going to get dropped quite hard lol ;)

Good info, the old adage 'ride with faster riders, to get faster!' rings very true. I occasionally struggle to get the time on saturday mornings to do the local shop social ride, getting involved with an after work one will just give me another option, even if I keep getting dropped! ;)

Ha!
Question for anyone that's gone to Disc brakes.... would you go back to Rim brakes?

I thought cycling was about going fast? :p

It is, but when you've climbed up a stupid hill you want to go down it again, fast... but also be able to slow down and stop before you go down that cliff at the edge when there's a bend or avoid the spastic in the car that's on your side of the road as they're gawping at the view.

Well, I do anyway.

*cough* Chinese carbon ;)

Seeee.... I'd be all up for this, for the cost, but EVERYTHING I've recently bought (in the last 12 months) that says "made in china on it" has been complete cack.... and knowing my luck they'd explode halfway down a hill.

I'm not the lightest of riders and I've had two sets of wheels that have been fine so far (the issue I had with my front wheel was minor and understandable after 7,000+ miles). I have two friends with similar Chinese carbon wheels that also haven't had issues.

There's Chinese carbon and then there's dodgy knock-off stuff. They're worlds apart to be honest.

in a couple of years there probably won't be many high end rim brake bikes. I expect disc brake tech to change a lot too.

It's a bad time to buy an expensive bike for the next year or two imho
