Road Cycling

"Morning"

"Heyasdbfdn"

:D

Aha my thoughts too :D

Actually on today's ride I was a little unsure how to say Hi to some HWCC cyclists (High Wycombe?) really struggling up Christmas Common. They were weaving side to side and as I got closer could really hear the breathing so just decided to pass with some distance and stick my left hand up to say hi.

Todays ride/ I'll do a proper write up when I'm less knackered.

Wow, nice ride - looks like a killer!

Enjoyed riding a bit of the Chilterns today. Nice and quiet, few cars, lots of cyclists. My route back would go round the dual carriageways by Heathrow and I'm not a huge fan of them so opted for a slightly longer route which brought me to 103 miles. Quite happy with the pace considering I was trying to keep heart rate lowish @ 150bpm or so. Nice and spinny too at 97rpm avg.

I definitely need to head out to the Chilterns more often. Variety and all that!

Hopefullyfixed my shifting issues.. replaced the gear cable and housing with some jagwire stuff. Old one was rusty for like 30cm right next to derailleur.
. ??? Can only assume that the rust totally messed up the shifting:o cable was like 3 months old too!

Perils of not being a fairweather cyclist? :p

Guess so!

Checked chain wear because the bike did 2800 miles in all weather and with very little maintenance and it's still below 0.75mm.

Not sure how roady kills his chains in less than 1k miles lol.

That descent into Hambledon is pretty fun! I want to take it faster, but it's pretty tight in places, and occasionally you see a car.

Oh yeah. Rockwell Hill? I completely didn't expect such a steep descent. Saw a few cyclists coming up it the other way and it looked like a fair challenge!

This descent was fairly crazy too: https://www.strava.com/segments/4433718?filter=overall
Nice and wide but all tree-lined and at 30mph it's kinda hard to see any potholes under the shadows!

What a beast!

I wanted to get out yesterday but have the worst toothache imaginable. I rode in to work this morning but now at my desk taking any drugs I can find.

Another bitch is that my son's grand canyon was stolen last night outside his friend's house. I went off on one as he didn't say he was off to a mates, as he knows if he'd said that, I'd have said don't take your bike, for this precise reason. Ugh.

That's my neck of the woods

Is there any news in the pipeline for the Garmin 820? Planning on selling my 500 to a colleague and upgrading. I need to do a bit of reading first.

He's not in a rush, neither am I, though from what I've gathered the 810 would be ample but if the 820 release is imminent or overdue I might hold out and wait for a good deal. Just need the unit itself.

Get a Wahoo Elemnt mate ;)

I tried out my new ISM Adamo TT saddle yesterday on a very short ride. It didn't go very well!

I don't know whether it is the cause or simply highlighted a problem but after a painful 2 miles on it, I've noticed a sore lump down there.

Googling around it could be a "cyclist's nodule".:o

It's a good area :D I was half tempted to drive out and then do more time in the Chilterns but in the end I figured I'd just cycle there.

I think there was some leaked stuff about the Edge 820.

I am intrigued... *raises eyebrow*

If you do next time give me a shout as it's not far from me at all :)

Monday's aren't so bad after all...

Sportful No Rain.

I didn't like the lining in the thermoflex, no rain/castelli nanoflex were nicer and had the waterproofing too.

New Vittoria tyres, didn't realise they had a slight tread on the shoulders. Doesn't matter.

So tight to get over fulcrum rim I snapped two park tyre levers! Had to use a metal MTB one to get it on! Went over the H Plus Son rim easier, but I could fit the old tyres by hand almost though!

Had to replace a bearing on my power tap hub, the NDS one gets more weather. Lasted 12 months and probably as many thousand km. $15 and 10 minutes later all good.

A bit of googling, Novatec make the free hubs for power tap, 11 speed power tap free hub $120, novatec one $45 posted.

When my chain & cassette worn down I'll buy a RH shifter or a pair of shifters & go 11 speed.
