Wow, grim outside. Thank god I got home before 16:30.
I'm at Manchester airport and I'm in the middle of a huge thunderstorm.

FYI, free breakfast at the Centre on presentation of your helmet!
That One Sportive looks pretty joocey. Would be happy to ride the route with you next year at some point, probably July or August so the weather is fair, light lasts and we're not still carrying around Christmas dinner & unconditioned. Won't be able to fit it in this year I'm afraid. Lots of punchy climbs, most of which I've done, safe to say you'll have an empty tank by the end
Looks like we ride around the same sort of speed (1 2 3) so could get something in the few weeks? Got a club run this weekend and plans the next but free the first two weekends in October. Though off to Majorca the 3rd weekend so need to keep some reservesAgree to stay off the small lanes at the surfaces get awful and stay quite damp.
Setting off from Tring or Thame is a good shout though you're in central London. I'm on the Chiltern Line in Aylesbury so could always save the legs and get the train out or part of the way? Let me know where you want to start & the distance and I'll plot something up with a mixture of climbs![]()
so this addison lee driver nearly wiped me off today.. I caught up to him at the lights and I was like "that was a bit too close don't you think?" he was like "yeah but did I hit you?" I was like "that's not the point, come sit here in my place and let me do that to you and see how you feel" he was like "okay I will" and speed off.. nob end
Looks like you're going to have to do it again thenActually managed to ride over the 30% part which has defeated me every time before, pulled over to stop and wait for my mate (who had to walk it) and realised my GARMIN HAD CRASHED. FFS! Restarted it from the pullover and steady rode all the way up with Richie.
I think our office did this 2 years ago... free breakfast if you cycled to work on cycle to work day. I guess they didn't get much take up (probably because it was poorly communicated!). Would be nice if they did it everyday but then we don't have a car parking issue (apart from other local businesses stealing spots in our massive car park) so I don't think there would be much incentive for them.Cycle to work day promo.
Bike show end of next week. Anyone going?
planning on trying on some kit. I need some new winter clothing.
Anyone recommend some quiet ish rollers for when its bucketing down or sub zero outside?
2nd weekend Saturday (7th) works for me! I'd be tempted to cycle out depending on how far start point would be or I could drive out.. Trains from Westish London to your direction are less than direct! I probably wouldn't want more than 100 miles max for an overall ride and I could deal with 30 miles out and back.
You mean the 8th?Cool, let's see what the weather is doing closer to the time? E-mail in trust

58 miles today and just over 5000ft of climbing.
I live about 7 miles away from Snakes Pass in Glossop so it's rude not to go climbing. Holme Moss isnt far from there either. Its hard work but well worth it, the views are stunning.
Well, it worked. I showed my helmet to the ladies in the cafe at work and they gave me a sausage sandwich.
Surely you'd not want something as thick as a softshell when riding cross?! You'd need something more breathable and then the thick layer on as a gilet so you could control it? Then again you soft southerners do feel the cold...Talking of this I grabbed one of the softshell baselayers from Rapha in the sale, not sure how they perform relative to a Gabba but for £35 I was willing to try. Turned up today and the fit is snug to say the least, but feels like a good bit of kit. Should be ideal for racing cross when the weather is less than savoury.
Yep...! Half thinking about it tonight but my cycling pass only covers me till 6:30pm after being late on Monday... Will need to leave work bang on 5 to get even close!Looks like you're going to have to do it again then![]()

You new guys 'not proper cycling' are showing some of us up!I'm not proper cycling by any stretch, but I did 80 miles the other day with 4500ft of climbing.. I feel your pain!![]()

We totally need to sort a ride out sometime. I'm not far from you at all.
