Road Cycling

I was just being facetious :p

Well it has stopped, again. We've just seen a house we really like and are currently going all in on trying to sell our house and move into the one we've seen as it really is our ideal location.

So that's the focus for the rest of the year now but if it gets to January and it's looking like the move is out of our reach, I'll go ahead with the DI2 purchase

As much as I love di2, a better house would probably trump that for me too.

Yeah, I hate the house we are in. It's just too small for the 3 of us along with a cat and dog! Plus new house means we'll finally have somewhere secure for our bikes which will make me much more keen to get a fancy one!

Just have to hope a few things fall into place. The valuation people are coming over in the next hour as well so hopefully it moves smoothly on

Sounds like things are moving fast! Good luck mate!

So the argon18 is here and I’ve ridden it twice - been away.

Small size seems to be better for me for sure, neck is a bit beat up after riding but I’m putting this down to just not used to it.

Also bought a couple Aliexpress goods, small light that sits on the computer mount and carbon cages.

All in the bike rides great, may lower pressures and the calculator online suggests 76psi and I’m currently running 90psi.

Other than that I’m just going to try and hit the short route I have a few times a week and hopefully get some fitness back before going for longer rides.

Sram e grouppo is awesome. Love it, good to move away from cables.

Yep! We're due to remortgage anyway and with the development having a few houses available it seems like a good time to really strike! If we don't get it, it's not the end of the world and we'll just fix for 2 years and see what else happens but right now we're thinking of going onto a tracker to get moving.

I think I'm going to concede defeat soon and retreat indoors. Not been an ideal summer as I was properly ill for most of it and just lazy the last few weeks.

Also ordered some of that drip wax to top my chain up between deep waxes. Quite looking forward to going up Epic KOM again.

I've just got back from Brecon for a family trip. I had a few rides planned, to tick off a few more of the Top 100 Climbs. Day 1 went a little wonky with a road closure, but luckily I was able to find it before I set off (it would have been about 45 miles into a 48 mile ride with 5,000 ft already done) and adjusted my ride to still take in 2 of the climbs (#96 Bryn Du & #98 Rhigos), but lost the opportunity to optionally add a third. (#91 Bwlch Y Groes)

Had a couple of days rest and then went for a rather random 'Komoot has given me this ride, ohh Komoot is highlighting a climb I could do hear, go on then' and it turns out the climb I added was another of the Top 100 (#94 Llangynidr Mountain). I didn't realise until I was looking at the segments afterwards. It didn't surprise me though, at 1,250ft and just beautiful, I was wondering why it wasn't on the list, but it turns out it was!

Then today, a short drive on the way home, stopped off for a 30 mile ride and ticked off another, (#97 The Tumble).

Not too bad for a five day trip, another 4 completed. I'm now at 18 of 100... so still plenty to go!

That bottom picture looks like if I zoomed in enough I could see my partners mums house. Is that far from Bronllys? The dragons back in that area always looks like it would be fun to cycle. Really need to get a roof rack

I'm reminded why I rarely do a sustained threshold ride, it's 1130am and I feel like it is 1130pm and should be getting ready for bed. :o

Did the same route as last time, 2w lower average power, a lot colder, wet roads, unlucky with the traffic lights and 2 sets of traffic light controlled road works meant I was 1.4mph slower.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheap wheelset? I'm going to use my old Triban as my winter commuting bike and a summer gravel bike, so want to stick some 32-34mm tyres on there. The old wheelset is (a) an absolute nightmare to get tyres off and on of, and (b) keeps suffering broken spokes, so I'm giving up on it. Keen to spend not much more than £150 including tyres (and preferably less).

6 bolt disc brakes, quick release, and 9 speed Shimano if that affects anything!

I would be looking on facebook marketplace honestly. Thats quite an old spec of wheel you want so might find it quite easy to pick some up on FB marketplace. There are things like the road bike UK buy and sell FB group which you could keep an eye on or even put a wanted post in.

Nice idea, I'll take a look!
