putting lensed on is a pain though..especially if you dont have to do it all the time

I feel your pain. I swear that one always goes in super easily, usually the first and then the second makes me want to punch a wall. Given the choice between an eyeball and a finger, the lens chooses the finger every time.

I used to have ones you could wear for 30 days constantly and sleep in. I don't think opticians particularly recommend that kind of use now though. Having them lasered around 6 years ago is probably one of the best things i did as i was around -4.5 in each eye.

Spotted this earlier. Seems a bargain for an air bnb style rental! Anyone fancy an OCUK spanish timeshare :D

Cheers. I might consider the Oakleys too, doesn't seem to be too much in it when you get to this kind of level. The Decathlon ones also seem to be well rated. I could probably also do with some normal every day sunglasses. I currently alternate between some non polarised Ray Bans which i love but the lenses let them down (although i did see a company do 3rd party replacement lenses for them in polarised) and then some cheap polarised ones which are ok but definitely noticable compared to my old high end polarised ones.
I just try to make sure whatever I go for is CE certified, It might not mean a lot these days but having something cheap near my eyes has never sat right with me. Having said that I'll happily wear a squint while using an angle grinder, so maybe I'm not that smart :-D

Yeah, my cheap ones are Siroko ones so i always hope they're better than really cheap stuff, but the lenses just don't seem as good as i've previously been used to.

I'm the same with the angle grinder too. Absolutely infuriates my wife!

siroko is not a bad brand so probably fine. Oakley etc will have nicer lenses for sure but imo, as long as the frame and lens don't shatter, you're good. Last thing you want is sharp plastic near your eyeballs.

I quite like the sun god ones but I was looking at new helmets recently and quite like the Sweet Protection helmets and glasses that pair together.

Yeah. No fears on shattering. Just a shame with the lenses and noticeable here. Especially with the low winter sun.

there’s that “double” Vision thing you get with cheaper lenses. My rockbros have that when looking at say a light. No issues otherwise.

Frame is also made out of tr90 plastic which is recommended for glasses as it’s very flexible and shatter proof

Those that run the ridenow tpu tubes, they’ve updated them recently and new version has a metal valve, removable core and the “rim” lock nut too. Massive improvement. The previous version never caused me any issues but it’s good to see.

These are the 36g versions. Not sure if lighter ones have been updated.

Yeah, that's much better. Especially for users of electric pumps. They look cool too which is obviously the most important thing

I went out last night for 50km in the peaks. Man it was cold.

I bet! Its cold enough down south. It was 5 degrees when I went out but quite sunny. Still, with the wind it was "feels like" -1. If there is one thing I hate, its wind!

Interesting. Obviously not long bought one and hopefully I'll never need but almost tempted to change out to this one. Though I just keep the electric pump extender which allows it to work with TPU tubes.

Actually used the pump on our weekend ride when my friend had a puncture. Really happy with it out in the wild.

Think it was -1.1C on the tops, obviously sweating then dropping back into the valley sent my forehead numb, still not sure if I can frown yet :-D

Dunno if you ended up buying them or not but I'd throw out a vote for maui jim sunnies. Best lenses by an absolute country mile.

I just bought some, I think the plastic version, but was thinking about getting some more just to have in stock. Can you link to ones you know are the new version? Ta.

these are the ones I got to have as spares.

I’ll go tubeless in the future but that’ll happen later as my current wheels are not tubeless compatible. Maybe summer ish I’ll get a set of 50mm carbon wheels and go tubeless then but for now I’ve got a couple extra tubes for when I need them changed.

Aren't they supposed to be 90% as good as tubeless other than the lower pressures?

Have to say, I was smug when I was with my friend. Changing tubes in the winter? No ta. I've only had white goo on my bike 2 or 3 times in the last 2 years but it usually happened without me knowing. Did have the front tyre hiss once and must've been due changing the sealant over as it took a while to seal but it got me home without needing to stop

I think the main pro of them is the fact that they're light. Puncture protection wise I can't say as I have had no puctures with them yet and in general rather buy a heavier tire with more protection than a lighter to prevent just that.

but my thinking is, if I go for new wheels, I'll go tubeless at the same time and "upgrade" from tubes.
