Road Cycling

Think it was -1.1C on the tops, obviously sweating then dropping back into the valley sent my forehead numb, still not sure if I can frown yet :-D

I've been amazed at how much I am sweating in these cold conditions. Every time I come back, my long sleeved jersey is absolutely sodden. My partner resisted but I made her hold it after yesterdays ride just to show her how heavy it was :p

I was under the impression they had better rolling resistance than butyl but not as well as a latex tyre?

I thought it was very very similar to latex.

Yeah me too! I was trying out my new fancy Rapha goretex windstopper and the amount of beading on the surface of the jacket demonstrated just how much it had wicked away from me. Once the road points upwards and I start to dig in I'm always sweating.

Conversely I had the opposite on my ride. Where it was so cold I was barely sweating and I usually sweat a lot!

One of the only benefits to cycling in the negatives! Quite nice not having sweat flooding the eyes

I've been really pleased with my Spatzwear thermoz gloves, to say they're thin they really keep my hands warm and there's a stowable flap to turn them into mitts for when it's proper baltic

Could well be! I just didn't want to say 'as good as' and then get corrected

Which has happened anyway
My understanding is they’re pretty much the same rolling resistance wise just better than latex on puncture protection.

All in butyl still is the strongest and probably easiest to install / store.

But these ride now tubes are fine too, I did pump them up a teeny bit to help fit in the tire but other than that it was exactly the same.

Took ages to tighten it again. Definitely need to think about carrying some normal allen keys i think given they're pretty lightweight and compact.
If you only need 1 for it, then just carry that specific one? But it likely needs a torque to get it the right 'tightness' for it to stay in place. Obviously the more you do it, the more the bolt/post will wear as not exactly designed for thousands of saddle changes...

I find just jiggling the strap can sometimes get them to wake up again. Good thing is your PM didn't go to sleep.... Thats the real nightmare scenario!
Probably more likely the head unit dropped it/went out of range when you stopped? The HRM obviously shouldn't sleep if it's still on your body reading HR,... Don't think the way BT/ANT works they power save if the signal isn't 'read'. Don't think the protocol is that clever...?!

Whoop is looking at the time between the beats, but still surprising that it smooths the data so much that you can't see peaks properly. When I used Whoop I never thought to, or weren't able to link it with my computer... Keep thinking I should re-subscribe.
It's possibly the 'fit' and the fact it's optical. The wrist is quite an extreme part of the body to be measuring HR compared to how central a chest strap is... But again wearing it on bicep like @AndyCr15 might be an easy fix for that. Depending on your arms I've heard of cyclists having enough length on the standard Whoops strap to do a forearm fit, for me that probably means it'd fit my bicep too!

interesting! yeah, it's a wide saddle all around. Was going to ask, have you actually measured your sit bones? that is what really matters when it comes to size. I've got a lot of meat so presumed that my arse is wide but after measuring I learned that I was in between narrow and medium saddle size.
Yeah, during bike fit had them measured and the guy actually commented he thought I'd be more borderline and my fit/saddle sores/saddle rocking came from the leg imbalance than the saddle. But confirmed wider should be better for me... He said no rush to go out and change them all but you know what it's like - good excuse to buy some new bits! :D

Same here, I guess that its just my shell layer keeping all that sweat in because I don't need to drink anywhere near the same amount of water as in the summer so I'm clearly sweating far more in the summer but because its not locked in I assume it all just evaporates off my light layers. Makes me realise though that I probably need to drink waaaaay more in the summer.

The warm weather will soon be here. I can feel it. Looking forward to trying out my fancy new summer helmet as well. My poor head would freeze if I used it now!

Luckily I don't seem to get issues with sweat in my eyes.

It's already getting lighter and I think that's half of the battle. As much as I am looking forward to the spring/summer I'll miss wearing my winter jacket as it only gets a few uses a year now!

I really need to buy a bunch of new bibs. Down to 3 pairs now which isn't really enough as I found out last night when I went to do a ride and all my shorts were dirty. Oops.

Quite like the new Assos range but have to get this house move sorted first

yeah it's getting lighter! i really used to enjoy the 7pm ish outtings in the summer so looking forward to those.

for me, the cold is not even the issue, is the mess on the roads or the icy rain you get sometimes.

sweat wise I seem to have none of it, like I will do a hard 1hr ride on trainer indoors and not a drop.. maybe I'm broken :D been like that my whole life. Only time I sweat is extreme efforts or say at the gym when deadlifting or squating near my max.

This bloody house move is turning into the new Di2 debacle! Do we all need to come over to the Home and Garden forum and bully you on there too! :p

Lol we are not the same! If I do a hard 60 minute interval session, like i have later, the sweat just flows from me.

If you are sweating much indoors you don't have enough fans. I have a wahoo headwind and one of the vacmaster ones and I don't think sweat has a chance to drip if they are both on max.

April 25th is supposedly the day we move! It’s looking ahead of schedule so hopefully it’s sooner but I don’t think it’ll be delayed which is the most important part

I have a headwind but did debate getting another fan but I think the truth is I just sweat a lot. It probably doesn’t help in a tiny insulated shed but I think I’m just a heavy sweater lol

is this the 2nd puncture? was the first 9 months before the kid?
Hah! Nope, picked this up riding to Paris, managed to get all the way there and just get it on the outskirts. Was slow enough to enable me to pump and ride a couple of kms at a time

Those Continental GP5000's in a 32 were supremely comfortable
