Teach yourself Feek, before your first lesson comes enforced when it's -4c dark and piddling down with rain.
Got home this evening and a pair of new tyres were waiting for me so it would have been rude not to have put them on straight away with some new tubes.

I really didn't find it difficult, did both the front and rears and now I have these fitted.

If you struggle with/break your levers then these are probably one of the best investments I ever made: Park Tool TL1C levers <£3.
Bah, wish I'd known - I bought a set of three plastic things from Halfords this morning for a fiver. The tyres and tubes came from Wiggle so I could have added those to the order.
And I got Haribo :)

I've got one you can have if not :)

Ah, sorry! I havnt got any 11speed stuff.

No worries. Thanks for the offer though! So lockring is specific to speed of cassette and smallest cog number of teeth?

A workmate said he's got a few old spare cassettes knocking around and they have a smallest cog of 11. They are 10 speed though I think.

If his isn't compatible I may have to take you up on your offer, janp :)

Good work :) Sorry for no reply on Whatsapp - spent about two hours updating my phone CM version :/

Label over the valve like a pro

Right, I need some new lights... nothing too pricey and USB charging essential :D

Got these at the top of my shortlist so far.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Popped into Aldi on my way in to pick up a new light and left £92 lighter :o Within 15 minutes the cycling stuff was already looking like a jumble sale.

Ended up with;
4 cheap base layers*
Mega thick gloves (sub zero only I'd imagine!)
Neck warmer
Long sleeve fleece lined jersey
Bib tights
100 Lumen rear light

*I know the merino ones are the ones to go for but I don't currently have any and wanted a few so I could have them on rotation in the wash.

I also bought an Endura jacket last night that was in a clearance sale. That is me done for the winter now otherwise I'll be in trouble with SWMBO!

my 50p jumble sale craft rain jacket did a good turn this morning. It won't be long before i need the thermal jersey i got for the same price at this rate

Hmm, might pop to aldi at lunch. I could do with a bit more winter kit. I need some Autumn gloves as well, as my Planet X ones are wearing through.

Just tried the light and now my retinas have finally recovered I don't think I'll be using anything higher than 30 Lumens unless I'm riding in fog!

I somehow spent £80 too... (In my defense that included a pack of £2 coffee)

2 rear lights, 1 front light, pair of the gloves as spares/dirty mtb gloves!, pair of the lobster gloves (never tried these out), merino skull cap, merino socks, waterproof socks (fancied a try for mtbing), and a bottle of gt85.

The rear light looks exactly the same as my Moon Nebula.

Is anybody else using Bone Conduction Headphones? They were being offered for £80 or £90 usually around the £110 mark. Not quite sure how the fit is by the time glasses & helmet are on.

Not something I need, least while my current pair are still functioning but if & when they are replaced it's tempting. Connected via Bluetooth with around 40 hours playback per charge, can take calls etc etc.

I have a pair of Aftershokz (version 2, i think). I wouldn't recommend them though as mine don't get much use.

Main three problems for me:

1. - Drowned out by traffic, on full volume you can't hear anything on a busy road, fine out in the country though

2. - Don't think well with helmet and glasses, uncomfortable and hard to get the right position. Fine without a helmet though

3. - Bluetooth connectivity, poor signal, lot's of drop outs, especially if my phone was in a backpack.

So I wouldn't recommend them for cycling, perhaps more suitable for runners.

I can't recommend this light enough:

£35.20 if you've got the same Wiggle discount as me. Saw me through a 316 mile ride (with torrential rain) without a hitch on a single charge, and was only flashing a low battery warning as I finished in the daylight. It's invariably out of stock though - it pops up as available for a second, then they all get snapped up so you need to be quick!
