Possible to buy a cassette lockring?

Can't seem to find anything and I think if it's over say £5 then I might as well just get a new cassette as a spare.

I've got loads kicking around. I dont usually throw them out when I bin the old cassettes.
What brand cassette and how many teeth are on the smallest sprocket? I'll see if i've got one that fits.

Teach yourself Feek, before your first lesson comes enforced when it's -4c dark and piddling down with rain.

So unbelievably true.

I remember when I first got my road bike starting riding to work and back (13km each way). I didn't have any spare inner tubes, pump or levers, I just ran the risk until I actually got around to buying it all. Pretty dumb thing to do in hindsight, but there you go.

Been a bit quiet on the cycling front the past few weeks, have been awfully busy with gaming festivals and other work. :p
Hard life!;)

Will give you a holla if doing velobirmingham!
Thanks - Ordered, they'll be with me tomorrow. I've never changed a tyre before, I've ordered a couple of extra inner tubes as well, just in case I break any.
It's worth checking a couple of the online videos/guides on sites like GCN, road.cc and RCUK. There are a few 'tricks' which you'll pickup through trial and error, the main one I've found really helps me is putting a bit of air in the tube when refitting. It holds it in the tyre when refitting it (giving the tyre some shape) and will aid in not catching the inner tube between the rim & tyre.
£86+ in Quidco payments from Wiggle in the last two years, start remembering ;)
Need to sort me some of that! Although I've 'only' spent ~£1800 on Wiggle the last 12 months (previous years have been much more!)

I do have a spare and some tiny little tyre levers in my saddle bag and I've watched a youtube video once about how to change a tube. This evening I aim to take the tyres off and put them back on a few times so I've got experience doing it.
If you struggle with/break your levers then these are probably one of the best investments I ever made: Park Tool TL1C levers <£3.

I wouldn't imagine you need to do it more than once or twice to get familiar with the sequence. Front is easier to practice on than rear (less chance of cassette grime getting on you/tyres).
Requested this recently, not something I ever used on my Garmin but my rides are significantly longer now at weekends and after the 3 hour mark it's not always at the forefront of my mind.

Interesting. I have an 'auto-lap timer' set on my Garmin at 5 mile intervals, mostly to assist when riding with friends so we switch every 5... Ideally would like to easily change this (swap more/less frequently depending on conditions) and also easily disable it (or have it tied into an activity profile, rather than global as it is now).

Are there activity profiles/'different bikes' you can setup on the ELEMNT?

Not per-se but you can easily activate/de-activate pages very easily.

For example you might have an 'overview, climbing, power, map and lap' page each with different metrics. You can have a TimeTrial or HillClimb page setup customised with whatever metrics you want to see but turned off to save it appearing in regular rotation. On the day of the event you just disable/enable which ever pages you do/don't need and it saves all those extra button presses.

As always you can easily re-order both page order and the fields within each screen with a quick swipe.

Anyone got any thoughts on using a CX-like geo frame and equipping it for pure road use? I'm considering the PX Bish Bash Bosh with a slammed and/or long stem.

Tried these out at the NEC on Friday and having been previously skeptical I was seriously impressed.

I ride with headphones less nowadays than I used to but still use them on occasion. I've always been very spatially aware and cautious as a rider, even more so when I know my ability to hear is compromised.

Is anybody else using Bone Conduction Headphones? They were being offered for £80 or £90 usually around the £110 mark. Not quite sure how the fit is by the time glasses & helmet are on.

Not something I need, least while my current pair are still functioning but if & when they are replaced it's tempting. Connected via Bluetooth with around 40 hours playback per charge, can take calls etc etc.

Please do, wouldn't mind meeting some folks here!

Prices for VeloBirmingham:

£75 for standard
£115 for fast track
Yup, same!

Standard is ok, quite steep but considering it's b'ham city centre and all along closed roads I can imagine the overheads are quite high... Also 'roaming domestiques' who bring you gels/food?! Mad idea but quite cool knowing you don't really have to stop at the food stations unless you need/want to!

Fast track is quite pricey/steep/cheeky as all you get is a 'sportive pack' sent to you in the post and priority departure before the masses. Oh and maybe an allocated car parking space?! For £40!

Dragon Ride/L'Etape Wales is also really appealing to me and probably a better event to spend that kind of money on... ;)

You mean a 'Gravel bike' like I'm using my Diverge... Or something more like a TCR? I'm loving the full guards & ability to run 'comfy'/wide tyres on mine! :D ;)

A pure CX frame doesn't generally have guard mounts or much wider wheel/tyre clearance (and therefore carries mudguard compromises) which where some of the key requirements for mine.

Very interesting! I'm sure someone here was, got in the back of my mind last time it got asked about I mentioned it was janp, but also recall that it wasn't him. Ho hum! :/

Know a few who ride the new TCR on some of the chaingangs, they've generally got road bikes too so can't imagine it's all %newbike% syndrome, but they ride cross over winter too...

CX tend to be higher BB and slightly longer rear-wheelbase, not sure how that directly translates to the road as can't imagine it'd feel less 'sluggish' because of it? Just maybe not as snappy in the corners.

Are you generally seeing a more aggressive geo on them (which you want?) as opposed to other 'do-it-all' frames?

Right of passage complete. 5 weeks of cycling. This morning at the end of my ride, not sure due to being tired or not concentrating as I was only 1 minute from home. I unclipped my right foot at some lights in front of a queue of cars and managed to fall to my left into a pile on the floor. Slightly grazed and banged knee but otherwise ok!

@BennyC - I've fancied trying such things for a while. Would love to get some if they're actually good.

In a weird way you kind of think 'nah that can't work' and refuse to believe it. But once you've tried it and realise, yep, does indeed work it's a bit of a game changer.

Useful too if you wanted to listed to something like sport commentary whilst at work without shutting yourself off from colleagues

This is already on my 'Ride before I die' list.

Don't think ill get into CX like i thought, so debating selling the CX and getting a road bike.
Just hate hassle of selling things.
