Road Cycling

I wouldn't say I have full blown Reynaud's. My fingers don't go white.

That said, I have to wear long finger windproof gloves in conditions many others wear short-finger mitts in. Core temperature can be fine or even hot but hands remain cold.

Yeah, but more so for absolutely anything outdoors and even indoors!

I bloody hate it. Can be June and 19 degree's outside and I still have freezing hands and feet.
Even sitting here in the office at work, the AC triggers it. Entire body is fine but my hands are freezing.

I am always cold in general. Properly cold. I am 100% not meant to live in and be Scottish.

Same here, think I mentioned in here previous but few commutes last year hands were so cold that upon warming up in the shower at work I felt physically sick and so lightheaded I had to sit down.

I know the exact feeling and it is very strange.
I've been so bad from rides before that 30mins straight of standing in a hot shower still didn't bring back feeling to my feet and I remember getting out the shower and being very dizzy and wanting to be sick.

When I first started on the bike, I got caught out in May sort of time where it was OK when I left but 20miles from home the weather turned.... I remember climbing up the hill to my house and not being able to feel my body. It felt like I was floating outside my body watching my legs turn. I could not have been far from full on hypothermia and collapsing, that was a very bad situation and experience I would never like to go back to.

I do it's the worst condition for cycling.

Less blood in the fingers & toes must equal more blood in the organs and limbs which must be a benefit surely :p ;)

Crossing the line first as all your fingers and toes drop off

Find I suffer from this infrequently. Sat in the office today with everyone absolutely boiling and I'm here in a shirt and jumper, stiff cold forearms fingers and toes and my nose running. Dafoooook.

What's even more odd is I turn in to an absolute furnace on the turbo and still perspire like mad and not a single bit of that lava like blood reaches my extremities :(

TrainerRoad adjusts my Vortex based on readings from my P1's ;)

The obvious solution here is to buy a PowerMeter :o
Hmmm, interesting... And Obviously! As I've Bike N-1'd recently then Trainer N+1'd. I'll be Trainer N-1 (hopefully) soon, so then PWM N+1 is the only logical explanation.
In other news my dodgy Chinese Cree Megawatt Portable Sun (Facemelter Edition) torch was a great help on the dark country lanes I struggled with yesterday. Even just lighting 10-20ft in front is a huge help.
Sometimes the light 'splash' in an area at the 10-20ft mark is all you need, especially when commuting as you generally know the roads well enough to avoid any big pot holes without seeing them. The key is still having that visibility in bad weather conditions and why I tell anyone looking for a 'winter light' to look at 600 lumen or higher. For me the 400 lumen Cateye volt I had just wasn't enough. The 800 replacement is.
ALDI socks limit has been found.....5c and below and they're useless. What socks you sub zero boys using? :p
PX Thicky Merino. 3 pairs for £10 (when on offer), can't be beaten. Even at £13. I'm wearing them as everyday sock now and own 15+ pairs. :D
@roady - no need to share any postage costs with me. I'm assuming there's no "sale" going on. Otherwise MM would be the appropriate place.
How about any beer money? ;)

Just some thin merino ones. I have rapha, asos, planetx, castelli etc. All cosy below my Sidi Winter boots. Of course I'm not cycling at the moment so that makes things easier..

Got the normal winter gloves and some liners to try this year. I hold out no hope based on previous experience.

I'd say get the "deep" ones. If your hands are worse than mine the normal ones won't cut it.

I think perhaps sizing up from the liner size is a good idea too, to prevent constriction. So if XS in liner get the S glove.

The only other option is the Castelli Estremo.

Agree with the sizing advice. The Rapha winter gloves are good albeit a bit bulky with the liners too. If I was buying again I would go deep winter and use them with liners on the really cold days. No one ever moaned about their hands being too warm in winter.

Day off today, so I did a flat 35 miles on my single speed bike. I'm exhausted now. No riding tomorrow, need a rest! Might try to get again over the weekend. Next week looks like it's going to be cold so commuting could be unpleasant...

So...now remembering how much I love positioning FDs...

Also, randomly found a knot of undissolved stitches poking out of my skin. I now have a big hole where they were :o

I'll give it a go, luckily living down this way the temperature very rarely drops below -2 and got some cheaper lobsters that do help, this winter I'll only be commuting rather than stupid long miles in the minging weather and utilising the Turbo more. Sized up on the normal winter ones when they were on Sale so got plenty for my liners (Nasa white things)

I still need to sort out mine properly, doesn't seem to be a smooth change so far. (Di2)

So I've had a go on Zwift and I think I might be addicted, it's led me to look at upgrading my standard turbo to a smart turbo, in particular looking at the upcoming Taxc Flux.

Can anyone with a smart trainer describe what is meant by simulated climbing? I assumed it just increased the resistance as you went uphill but it says it only goes up to 10% whereas some go higher - doesn't the resistance keep increasing?
