Road Cycling

What's broken? They're my favourite local shop. Never had a problem, other than a noise on my bike that they took a look at and sorted out. Always get great service and discounts from them.

I have some assos chamois cream which I'll use, but also think I will change up every say 4-5 hours. If they get sweaty etc. would be nice to have a new fresh ass. I'll stop for a pee, hopefully bypass a poo stop, but if the body needs it... but hoping to go as much through as I can. The trouble with any prolonged period of stopping is seizing and cramping when I stop. It's easier to keep pedaling, even at low watts.

I'm also talking to Canyon at the moment, their Chief Brand Officer asked what I had in mind. I put it out there that they could donate a bike to be given at random to someone (randomized name generator) who donated to the campaign at the end. I'll see what they say about that... any support would be nice.
I've just emailed the GM of Tacx, Mr Peter Tacx himself, to explain my trainer issue and hope he can rush something. Days off is nice for my legs, but want to keep up some KMs too.

Oh, unrelated, but who's this low wattage plum? :p

:D:D
Cool to get all the brands behind such a charity project, certainly ones like Canyon/Tacx as they all like a good bit of PR. Worth contacting some of the sites like road.cc etc to see if they want to write a feature/interview you/etc.

That low wattage plum was ~18-19 miles into turbo just spinning watching TV :P

Weird, I have shades & helmet on my avatar and a different colour bike. Can't be me anyway, tan is too good! ;)
I'm going to be live streaming it via youtube as well. Or whatever people use today. I must remember it's on mind...
Twitch.
Just put the footage on youtube/facebook and let social media justice do the rest
May setup a separate YT account for it. Really need to sync all my 'bad' videos with my 810 date (to give data overlays) and trim them down. I've got around 100 1-2gb recordings I've kept for 10s of stupid driver incidents.

Make sure you keep a minute or two of pre-incident footage at least to show you weren't being a tit ;)

Garmin Vector Pedal Pods. Good to hear though!

After the stupidity of my pedal nonsense last week I did my first turbo clipped in again. Felt really good although the inside of my left knee felt a bit achy in the last couple of sprints. Might have to adjust the cleat to resolve that as the other side is fine. Quite pleased with the usual stats as well and looking to improve on these as the sessions go on over the winter. https://www.strava.com/activities/769944626

Right, so I'm set up on http://www.zwiftcalendar.com/ now and talking to the guy that runs it and he said about setting up the 1st hour with the event module and then carrying on around watopia flat after that for another 23hrs, people can join me/ find me/ add #24hrRide4AVN to their name.

I've contacted the main cycling publications, see what I can drum up there, as well as posted to some Zwift groups on Fb.

Any other companies I should ask you think?

Hopefully Tacx reply about my issue...

Make sure you change your shorts off camera!:p

That's what I'm afraid of - a complete waste of time!

I'm more concerned over the post-incident audio! I know the VIRB isn't great but it still picks up some! ;)

Good stuff, just hope Tacx come through with the turbo, failing that wouldn't be new one arrive in time? You could even say to the other half you got it 'just in case' (happy coincidence) and got a deal on it anyway (which you did)... ;)

Anyone with Endura kit, how does it size? Looking at long sleeve base layers (given up trying to find merino for less than £30). I'm a M or L in Castelli jerseys (depending on how 'aero' I want it!) and an M in DHB.

Mountain Warehouse had 50% off on everything, including merino base layers. Not sure how they are for cycling, if it matters, but for standing around in the cold with my camera they're ace.

EDIT: got soaked on commute home last night, Sidi Hydro's proven totally waterproof. My 'short leg' issue with full leg warmers means I have around 5-6" of leg warmer turned up at the bottom... I turned this back on itself and over the top of the boots, meaning a sock, 2 layers of leg warmer, boot top and another layer of leg warmer all stopping water ingress at the boot top/neoprene strap part. Worked well!

Back to shoes and overshoes for now (warmer weather today, 5 degrees this morning!) as I've yet to use these sealskinz in real rain to determine how good they are... Can only currently confirm they're showerproof. They're one of the best fitting I've ever tried, yet the tops are quite a lot shorter than I like so not 100% sold on them yet. Very good for the current money on Wiggle (<£18)

Was going to do a turbo session later but twisted my knee doing some DIY last night so may just take it easy for a day or two. Weekend forecast is mostly a write-off for any outside riding so could do 2 sessions then instead. Also boxed up and shipped my Road Machine last night. Got £146 for it (inc postage which was £10). Not bad considering I paid £260 for it (new) in 2013, saw some going cheaper on the 'bay!

Good work mate, it's surprising how much being clipped in can make a difference. I recently sold an old bike with flat pedals, I took it once around the block before doing so and found it a very strange sensation (after riding clipless for ~4 years & only riding flat pedals 3 time during that time!).

See you on Zwift sometime!? ;)
tweet/facebook your local police - they might be interested.:D
I'd be more likely to get abuse from the drivers than any response... To say my local police force are slightly behind the times would be an understatement...! Local fast chaingang got stopped in the autumn for riding 2 abreast on clear A roads! :o:rolleyes:

Good shout, thanks. Was looking through Ribble as had a 2% off everything code - 'SHOP2' if anyone's ordering.

Those after cold weather gloves these sound interesting & RCUK review explicitly mentions those with poor circulation (but does mention to pair them with a fleece liner). Thinner than neoprene, similar insulation, 2 layers of rubbery fabric trapping warm air between them.
endura usually comes up normal I would say.
Thanks!

I have some of their merino and all good from me.

Ordered inner tubes from Wiggle on Sunday afternoon, paid for the priority delivery and they think it is acceptable that I still today don't have them.... They picked and packed them instantly but then left them sitting until 17:30 on Monday evening to bother even notifying Royal Mail to collect them.

First problem with Wiggle and it's pathetic. Really need those inner tubes pronto, wish I had just paid a bit extra and bought from LBS now.

That's a bit rubbish, they came through for me with my Turbo but their 'estimated' delivery was rubbish. Ordered on a monday lunchtime and their free delivery estimation was 7 days later. I choose the priority £2.99 one which was estimated at the friday. 4 days. Thankfully it only took 2!

I've ordered tubes from ITS the last couple of times, tends to be 2 days free delivery!

Not a great sale but ordered a couple LS at £25 each so we'll see. I'll return them and buy the Wiggle or Baabaa if I don't like them, as they're still rather on the expensive side for what I'm after, so the others are only a bit more money.

You mean you don't have a spare stock of 10 tubes at home? Tut tut.

Order from Wiggle.
Purchase from Halfords for extortionate amount.
Return Wiggle tubes to Halfords.
;)

I drove into work today, fearing the weather. I averaged about 11mph. This is compared to averaging close to 16mph on the bike. Lame.
