Went out for a quick spin last night, local loop to explore and put a bit of an effort
into Walton->Presteigne as knew there was a segment there. Some damn cold headwinds around, once I was looping back around riding more steadily I regretted not putting my knee warmers on!
Little bit of an effort on the last segment but I'd eased up too much at the start to cool down (big hill before). Will smash it with a slight run up soon (and no big hill before)!
Bike making some noises, needs reindexing and possibly BB cleaning AGAIN after the horrific conditions on Sunday. So much mud came out of my cassette the night before!
It's been an expensive month
Very interested to hear how you get on with the ELEMNT mate as I'm still torn about ditching my 810 for one...
Also the Vortex, specially the SMART parts of it. My KK RMII is fine for the amount of turbo work I've done the last 2 winters... As we've had quite good short ones without biblical rain for weeks on end. But WINTER IS COMING.
I'm glad I went the laptop route as I used to be a tablet & mobe turbo'er. Was also good excuse to buy a good laptop (Asus X550 with GT 740M). Big benefits of things like TR/Zwift/NowTV/BBC iPlayer without much fiddling/cost etc!
anyone replaced a spoke on a Zicral spoked ksyrium? I've just replaced two and they've come up to tension, brought the wheel back to being true and round, but the nipples sit much deeper in the rim than the rest of them, almost as if the spoke is too long?
I sourced the spokes from an ebay supplier and they have the right PN
Are you able to measure the current/new to determine if they actually are? Nipples do 'bed in' but I wouldn't expect the difference to be really noticeable by eye.
Is it really wrong to wear Team Kit? I'm getting pretty tempted to just say stfu to the "purists" and just go for it. We've had this conversation before on here many times, but I think I'm going to bite the bullet and go for it!
I only like the Sky kit. It's fairly classic and understated. Some other teams have horrible kits. I still wouldn't wear it though.
As with many cycling things, there's a bit too much of a divide of opinions between the purists and realists. With the huge recent uptake in popularity I think we're seeing even more of a divide, which bugs me! Cycling should be one of the most inclusive and accessible sports there is!
Wearing team kit I see the same as wearing football/rugby shirts. It shows support & does help to fund teams (slightly). Although riding expensive team/branded bikes with the full team kit I do think is a bit too 'try hard' and makes me scoff slightly. Especially when it's obvious you're a new rider and struggle to hold 15 mph. Although in *theory* we should welcome these numpties - the crazy amounts of money they spend on frames/kit for the 2 or 3 sportives they do a year is a huge bonus to our LBS and bike manufacturers. Not to mention the second hand bargains we can snap up when the next years kit/bikes are released...!
As for wearing a team jersey you support/like with your normal kit, I think is totally acceptable. Especially if it's a previous year/retro kit. I wear my Giant/Shimano 2014 jersey with pride as it's from the year I started to really ride road, looks fantastic & the team I started to follow (mostly due to the colour combo design and bike I bought).
