Road Cycling

I'm too lazy to swap them out for the winter wheels!

Welcome to my world.:(

Your cycling will take a performance hit from running unfortunately! Great to hear that you are getting into running though.

I've started taking running a bit more seriously and feel my cycling performance has improved a little due to a capability to hold a higher sustaitained threshold/oxygen intake, and also being able to train harder as I got too much into the routine of lower energy longer workouts.

There might be some gains in cardio but I feel for me it was offset by simply cycling less.

If you do 15h a week on the bike and then that suddenly becomes 10h cycling with 5h of running you are losing a lot of cycle training. I was by no means weak on the bike this year but I was definitely weaker than my 2015 peak cycle fitness.

True, guessing I'm only running about 1.5 hours per week at most.

Take note xdcx, you could look this stylish one day...

I do beg your pardon in the little ring with a pink neckerchief on.
What temperature was it at time this picture was taken? Information needed to establish exactly where you sit position wise on ponce scale.

I only wear my club kit all the time as I am a top member who likes to represent. Nobody gives a toss and nobody does the same though, as they're all prats :p Club kit is also white, which is a super colour for winter time.

I need to post my winter getup. Bianchi with mudguards. It's wrong and bad.

Dramatic moment a group of cyclists are taken out by a car in California, all OK though.

Thomas PLease what was your new mudguard of choice ?
- are there any mudguards that help reduce spray back to following colleagues on a team ride - first man is fine but there is a lot of low level flying dirt nonetheless

5th rule One fight at a time. ?

These are SKS Chromoplastics, 35mm which are good for tyres up to 28mm. Not sure which is the est for teammates. These seem to do as good a job as any.

I like you. You are correct.

To talk about nutrition for a few mins:

I know some of you here are vegetarian: How do you ensure you eat adequate protein? Quorn? Tofu? Lots of beans?

My girlfriend is thinking about going vegetarian, and it's easier if I do as well. Not a massive meat eater anyway.

Random question, do Shimano make the RS 685 levers in non shifting version, running 2x11 but converting to 1x11 and although it's not a major issue was thinking about swapping it out and having a nice solid Brake.

Dairy, eggs and pulses are good sources of protein for a vegetarian diet. Pulses are really good for making chilli with too, can be batch cooked and frozen easily for simple meals out of the freezer. Cottage pie made with lentils instead of mince meat is also a good option and chana masala (chickpeas) is another handy meal too.

Whey protein powder in my porridge AM.
Quorn chicken slices with whatever at lunch.
Dinner is heaps of veg with some form of Quorn chicken, mince or frozen oven cooked thing.

Eggs, cottage cheese, walnuts/almonds, peanut butter are all other things I have at times throughout the week as well as whey protein shakes after training.

It's honestly simple. There is no need to eat meat at all.

Buy some flax and chia seed. Mix those through porridge/breakfasts and through high protein yoghurts with some fruit for a nice dessert. Flax seed a super one for veggies as this is your source of omega 3. Vegetarians do not eat fish. If you eat fish, you are a meat eater.

I supplement on vitamin D (because it's winter and I am in Scotland where we don't have the sun). Also on vitamin B12 of recent.

Your girlfriend if looking to become veggie should seriously look at specifically eating a lot of leafy green veg for the iron. I would say she is better of supplementing for iron intake. Low iron levels is something I reckon the vast majority of girls in this country suffer from for their lady reasons but it's often overlooked. I lace everything with spinach for mine these days and coupled with the vit D she has seen big improvements in energy levels and fatigue from work has all but gone when previously she would be knackered every day of life.

That's ace that bike. I'd love to build up a 1x11 Ultegra Di2 build, with mech disc brakes, like the above, bit more CC style with 32mm tyres etc.

Reckon that's possible?

Riding in this morning was pretty cold, can't get one cleat off the shoe and want to adjust them as I think my knee niggle could be made better with a slight adjustment.

On the Ultimate at the moment. Loving my new lumi gear all over. I can be seen from space.
