Road Cycling

Awesome riding buddy, thought maybe you were going for 500 miles not km! ;)

Ha. I didn't realise total mileage would end up nearer 500 alas I picked up a sore throat and a cough it seems so I have no real inclination to do the remaining 63 miles. My legs also feel like death today!

Really like those wheels, what are they?

What a crap ride!!

Planned a 100 miler today, but despite it looking pretty nice where I live, it was super foggy and pretty wet not far into the ride. I abandoned it and only did 20 miles :(

Took a quick pic of the new bike, which I immediately cleaned when I got home lol!

The club ride tomorrow will take me to 6750 miles for the year. I'll make up for today's wussiness in 2017!

Had that happen twice this week, very annoying! Today it was combined with a puncture which was almost enough to tempt me to throw the bike into a ditch and take up box set binging as my leisure activity of choice :p

Roady how big do you think my legs are?

It's surprisingly quiet. I'd thought I'd rip it off after a few miles. Only when descending at 30+mph do you hear it. Rest of the time don't notice. And yeah lighter blue than kinesis. Good colour shame it's got a few chips.
Haha, remember I bump saddle bags with my thighs if they're much wider than a seatpost! ;)

Think it just looks good as the frame is all one colour, silver & blue is a good festive combo! :D

Bike is still looking superb! How wide are those Rovals? 17mm internal? Didn't think they made the deeper sections any wider due to TT frame clearances?

Fog has been similar here, either thick freezing fog around home, or clear and ride closer to the river and find it again (have been commuting in to Hereford with my other half while she's working). Today is the first time my back garden hasn't had frost on the grass since monday, it's just been overcast & foggy and won't clear all week! Problem now is knowing what to wear... I don't think I quite need 5 layers this afternoon (4 degrees with -1 windchill)... :o
They look ok
I must be a bit slow today. Not getting it.
Don't poke the bear! ;)

xdcx fancies himself as a true flandarian and hates his local/northern Rapha wearers as it's quite a niche brand generally worn by those who avoid the bad weather... It's fairly synonymous here in the Midlands with higher end kit, Castelli is seen everywhere and I tend to stand out a little (in the 'label stakes'!) wearing Sportful. But I've only gone that route as the shorts pads just seem to agree with me more than anything Castelli I have and just bought tops to go with the shorts!

Too icy here for Road bike today. We went out on the MTB for the first time in 2016. It was er - mucky, but quite good fun. More importantly it allowed me to clock up my 4000th mile for the year. Not a fantastic amount but ok for a non commuter. Hoping to be more focused in 2017 as I should be on top of my new job a bit more.

Hmm - back to the drawing board on power meters. Stages won't fit my bike due to the direct mount rear brake.

Contacted Shimano/Stages directly and they confirmed this. Only solution is to change the rear brake for a The Tektro T750R / TRP T850/T85 !!!

Seems a daft option to have shimano ultegra brakes on the front but then a Tektro on the rear!

Looks like I'll need to consider some kind of pedal based option which increases the cost dramatically!

Ive seen a few of the Garmin vector power meters (Dual pedal kind) going for about £550 2nd hand on bike forums.

Any good?

yeah - that's the route I'll need to go down I think. Can get single sided Vector 2 for around £450 new and Sigma are doing dual sided for £750.

Will keep my eyes peeled.

I've just ordered the single sided Garmin. £450 on a Wiggle price match. Should arrive tomorrow.

So tempted by a power meter......the Garmin is probably the most desirable for me at the moment.

yeah - I've just enjoyed/got use to the smart turbo trainer etc - very useful training with actual numbers etc. I just think that come the spring, instead of just banging out miles solo etc - some actual power based training will be more useful.

Think I've convinced myself of that anyway.....Not bothered about dual pedals etc - single looks good.

Calpol - where did you price match wiggle with for £450? Also do the single pedal meters come with Keo cleats? I'm currently SPD-SL.
