Road Cycling

Well I removed PF with alloy frame too. It's a horrid design.

Threaded BB shell is a good design, only thing I suppose would be improving square taper but keeping threaded cup/BB shell. Not stupid PF

I do all my own work plus on other bikes why would I pay others to do it? I've also got all my own tools. And I get paid to repair bikes.

There are an increasing amount of thread together pressfit BB these days which takes the pain out of PF by screwing the two cups together which helps prevent creaking.

Roady, was just a £50 off offer. No codes or anything needed. Still listed at the same price but taken off at the checkout.

You mean the Praxxis? Nah, expensive work around. Rather stick to square taper or other threaded BB like megaexo (although not perfect as bearings are outside and exposed)

Great effort. That Wellington looks awesome too!

Can anyone advise me on Rapha bib shorts? I'm in London in January and might treat myself in the Rapha store.
But there's so damn many! Classic, lightweight, pro and shadow. And combinations of some of those!
I'm just after a really good quality summer cycling shorts, comfortable on long rides (80 miles plus)

For that type of riding I'd say the Pro. I prefer the pro, but don't really find any degradation in warmth with the lightweights so wear both all year round. If you're gonna buy them get them in the sale now and send back if you dont like them.

Thanks.

Whats the difference between the classic and the pro? (besides the price!)

Slightly different cut on them with the pro being a bit more slim, also pro have a radio pocket... I find Rapha shorts are generally slightly longer on the leg than all other shorts, which I much prefer.

Ah a radio pocket.....just what I needed! ;)

The description of the pro states one day races and crits etc.....which leads me to think they'll be a bit too aggressive. And the Rapha logo is absolutely horrific!

Might go for the classics, not bad at £120

About 5 years, amirite? :D:p
Oh wait, shorts, not riders? ;)
Once again the Pinnacle performed flawlessly throughout as it did last year, even though it got chucked off my cars roof at 70ish mph... The tinsel survived all throughout too!
Great pics, throw the one of the pinnacle up with the tinsel on it from Strava please! :D
Personal experience. Would not buy a bike with PF.
Hate to say it, but if you're choosing a frame over BB type then you're almost exclusively looking at buying an individual frame and building it yourself with the associated costs. Hardly any come threaded these days, especially 'off the shelf' types. I'd do it for a long haul type audax ti/steel bike but the money saved buying off the shelf carbon/alu for commuting/general riding I wouldn't.

Can't find any info about it, the only one I see is on their site about trading in an old unit. As they're £249.99 on the website and '£50 off' then how did you get to £190?

I'm not being difficult but I have told myself if I can find one for under £200 I'll buy it now rather than hoping for a Wiggle sale or January sale somewhere else...

UN55 and Centuar last ages.

Yes. Long enough that they might be hard to find by the next time you need one - I've got a UN71 with 15000+ miles on it. It's a grand technology and there was never any *real* need to move away from it.

But now that it's going, the time to move over is coming sooner or later. Only my high-days classic steelie still runs square taper nowadays, and that only gets about 300 miles a year.

I am looking to head out about between 10 - 11 which is when the fog is meant to clear (or so the BBC tells me). My intended route is just under 30 and was going to be a mixup of my usual routes: Rotherwas -> Holme Lacy -> Mordiford -> Dormington -> Marden then up to Pool Head and back into Hereford via the straight road through Sutton St Nicholas. Mostly flat and hopefully quickish.

Feel free to join, although I appreicate it is the other side of the City from you!
Hmmm, very tempting!

Although as the ice will be clearing I'll be commuting with the other half again in the morning (10 miles) and not back until around 9... If I don't come back home I'll be in town at 8.30 kicking around - far too early! I could shed some clothing and head back to meet you somewhere Rotherwas-ish at around 10.15-30 (depending on traffic)? I'll be up to 90 miles for the week by then so won't be a quick one! ;)
