Road Cycling

Riding without headphones in last weekend and yesterday I noticed a horrendous amount of road-buzz & rattling coming from around the top and down tubes, headset and oddly shifter regions on really rough roads. I can replicate it when stationary by just lifting the front of the bike by 1-2" and letting it drop back down.

Carbon frame with internal routing. I'm certain it's not cable outers on the frame so I'm thinking its the internal routing primarily. I'll also check there's no movement in my headset spacers and really pack it down.

Is there anything else I can check or might be overlooking? I've read to stuff a bit of sponge in the down tube could help :o

Do you have one of those mini pumps attached to a bottle cage? I did and it was rattling against the frame/bottle cage.

What's the sizing like for Rapha? I'm an XL bloke when it comes to normal clothing/t shirts/hoodies/etc, but will I be an XL with Rapha sizing? I've never bought a jersey before... :o
Size not as 'Italian' as Castelli but I'd size up at least once. So hope you ordered an XL and XXL!

Love the design (and have since I saw it's release). Any mens shorts yet?!
So this is day 3 of summer! It has got to be a cycle tonight. Glorious!
Too hot here! Be careful anyone riding, heat is very oppressive, keep hydrated and watch out for idiots wilting in cars not paying attention to the roads!:eek:
been finishing off reorganising my garage/painting it

Looks great, garage jealously! Not long until I can start my garage makeover... ! :D
That is the dream! Actually having room to store my bikes.:(
Tell me about it! :o
I think it was this one: https://www.strava.com/segments/1772624

The group we were behind seemed to be trying hard to start. They were setting a good pace about 20mph for a while before it seemed to slow down and you saw those ahead dropping back to the group we were behind.

Just stalked flyby.. looks like one of the guys we were following claimed 3rd overall on that segment :D https://www.strava.com/activities/643953628/segments/15742969426
Great climbs and segment looks fun, could build that into a nice 40 mile loop easily...! 'Andy Turner' has the KOM and have ridden a few times with him (he lives in/near Ross), he's an absolute machine! Only young too, will be very surprised if he doesn't progress to semi-pro at some point (update: he rides for KTM-Impsport and Nopinz, guessing it's his club bike but his KTM Revelator is gorgeous!). So many good young riders from around here, one of the local coaches is doing something very right! He's got our local superstar (Josh Sandman) up to national level and he came second in the U16's a week or two ago. He also got Lee's 2 sons up there too, think Will Truelove finished 4th in the U14's! Stars in the making!:D

No, if you've not get them, don't put them on. They're far more likely to cause noise than to prevent it.

Plus, they're super un-pro, like -10W easily.

I'm tempted to give my valves a wrap of 'leccy tape to stop them rattling against the carbon rims, it drives me nuts sometimes!

Oh, and thanks for the sponsorship :)

They're fine as long as they stay tight against the rim, stops the valve rattling!

Most of you guys leave them off and wrap tape? I fit mine and considering the amount of noise bare valves make on some carbon rims you really do need to wrap lots of tape around them to stop them moving...?!

I just keep my valves tight!

Seems I got things a little wrong, he's already racing with the pro's!

(Orange helmet over Cav's shoulder!).

He was 4th CAT 2 years ago (came across him on local club rides around a year ago) and now E123! How's that for progress! :o

My valves aren't threaded, they don't come with the washers. Don't think there are many inners for deep section wheels that do tbh, and if they did I wouldn't use the washers against my carbon rims.

That looks neat, what are you using to hang the bikes?

Lifeline holders. Better than the decathlon ones for all but the mtb which sits a bit variably depending where on the wheel you plonk it (and the tread therefore sits) 5.xx quid each. Bargain.

TV will be in there on the right on a bracket that'll swing out for turbo sessions going to try to mount the fan on the bracket somehow so it sits against wall normally. Work bench will be going on the right with some new shelves and a nice new wheeled tool chest for all the bike and car tools I've acquired.
