Road Cycling

Quite.

Its not actually a housing estate - its a main road linking Halesowen to Stourbridge, but i guess Roady knew that anyway and his comment was rather tongue in cheek :)

It used to be fun setting off the gatso, but its defunkt now - its got no innards any more. Shame :D

Can you do that? I read you need a lot of cyclists in close formation to trigger a speed camera. It can be hard enough getting those ones that show your speed to trigger.

I've only ever had one flash, ever, but I was on my MTB. I've shot by several on the road bike and never seen any flash.

I manage to trigger a speed sign relatively regularly. It always quotes 3-4mph faster than what I'm doing by GPS (no silly increases in speed just before it either). Doing 28mph and I'll get a sad face with 32mph.

Yes, Ive set off a Gatso doing 38mph in a 30mph on a downhill section near Rickmansworth. More often than not, I can trigger the speed signs but then I'm a big lump.

Ah, dammit. Got to work and as I was locking up I could hear a telltale hiss. Yep, puncture in the rear tyre. This is on my geared winter bike which is currently standing in for my single speed commuter while it waits for bottom bracket replacement surgery. The bike I'm building this year is due to serve as the new winter/off-road/foul weather bike, and I was going to take the winter bike to my parents to stay there as an emergency reserve bike and to ride when I'm visiting them. To be honest, though, for the sake of buying new tyres for a bike I'll hardly use, with a harsh ride and a heavy ass, I might just sell the bugger. I'm quite attached to it, as it was my first road bike and I've customised it so much that it does feel emphatically mine, but... can I be arsed? The money would be nice too...

The weather doesnt want to make up its mind. One report says its sunny on Saturday and another says it's wet.
A bit like todays... I messed up a bolt head holding my mudguard at the rear of the BB last night, damn cheap aluminium the head came clean off! Filed it flat intending on drilling it out (done this a couple of times before but different bolts), but can't get the damn drill in between the chain stays, the gap is too narrow!

Cue me checking weather forecast for today... No rain except some showers 9-11am. Figured I can deal without a rear guard for a day... Got up this morning and it's peeing it down and can't find an ass-saver I bought a couple of years ago ANYWHERE! #soggychamois :(

Not technically speeding unless there is a bylaw that applies the motor vehicle speed limit to cyclists through that estate.
I thought if you were on the carriageway being part of the traffic (and not on a cycle path) you had to abide by the traffic law? Didn't spot that it was an A road anyway! Zoom away! ;)

Not sure I've triggered a speed camera, not that many fixed ones around here and the ones that are tend to be 40/50mph ones on flat busy A roads. I trigger two trigger ones regularly, one 40mph on a downhill A road just before my parents and another 30mph one near home I commute past twice a day (Lol Googlecar was speeding!). Don't tend to trigger it that frequently when commuting but leisure/group riding it gets set off most of the time as its at the end of a good straight flat road, on a corner with an incline so regularly building up speed for it... Still doubt I'm even close to doing 28mph and it goes off...

I texted the wife to tell her I'd got a puncture and that I'd have to fix it this evening so I'd be running a bit late. She said that's fine, they've got no plans so there's no pressure to get back. I said good job as I've no pressure to get back either #dadjoke

I wish this weather would sort itself out! All this stupid little showers are getting on my nerves.

Wet yesterday morning, rode winter bike to work. Bone dry in the evening. Still dry all evening , then rained overnight, so wet again this morning. And it'll be bone dry again on the way home again (but of course bloody windy!)

Drug update:

I'm now officially away with the fairies - diazepam and codeine for 3 days. I'm living the dream, mind is just completely numb & clear of life's usual clutter.

I've been in work since 8am and tbh I'm in no danger of doing anything of an substance today.

So I'm essentially going to get paid today for surfing bike bargains, wiggle, CRC, and the cycle chat & bike radar forums. Any other suggestions? I'm all ears.

Looks like you've been permitted to take the long route home :)

Would you buy 19mm internal rim wheels for a frame that is limited to 25c tyres? Superstar have ARC rim brake wheels for £140 in their 30% payday promo code sale until tomorrow night.

British Cycling Ride bronze membership for £16 from Evans, or pay £43 for the silver membership and get the extras like third party liability insurance?

I lol'd but I can imagine you just had *tumbleweeds*? That's all I would've got! ;)

Hope so (no rear guard today!) ;)

Via LBS to borrow track pump! ;)

Struggling to figure out which screw extractor set I can buy locally (Screwfix, Halfords, Wickes, B&Q) will have a bit small enough to remove what I think was an M2/3 size screw (~3-4mm)! Most of them start at 3-4mm! The pilot hole I'll be drilling is going to be 2mm... :(

Torx T10 here, is 2.74mm. M3/6 here if true M3 then ~2mm.

Size 6+ here, is too big. 4mm+ here I think is too big. :o

Spotted this set, has extractors and also tap & die if I have to drill it out and retap...
