Repair looks fantastic! Happy with the work? Pid they send you any pics of how it looked pre-paint?

Are you riding CX again this year or what are your plans for it, keep/sell?

Great job indeed, looks as new! No pre painted pics. I'll be doing a full season this year that is for sure. Won't be getting rid of a bike I've only ridden for 57 miles!

So big shout out to Rob Hayles at Re-Carb! Great pricing (it worked out cheaper to send to him and back than using local repairers) and great work! Check him out on facebook for some work.

So Canyon has just launched some new spec e-tap Aeroad disc models. E-tap was always the system I wanted but given the extra £1.3k over Ultergra Di2 I'm glad I didn't wait. Also I think I will prefer the Shimano system when I get Syncro shift working.

Well, I had another pretty brutal physio session a few hours ago. She wants me to stay off the bike and do nothing except self massage for a week.

I agreed, providing staying off the bike can start this Saturday. She gave me the rolleyes then agreed.

Out tonight, and tomorrow then! :D

We won't say we told you so...:p

Only a few miles pootling.

Physio has said hip flexors glutes hamstrings quads and to a lesser degree back all basically tight AF (hence eye watering pain releasing them all).

Once im feeling back to normal i'm tempted to get myself a cheapo gym membership, try to improve all round strength a bit, and learn some proper warm up and warm down routines.

All this chat of chaingangs has only put more of the fear into me. One of my "challenges" this year to myself, was to go along to the Tuesday Night Training bunch ride. Last week 30 riders out, 3 groups of 10, two laps (around 10 miles a lap)

Sounds horrendous but I've set myself up to go along next week and see what happens. It's certain that I'm going to be fired out the back but I'm determined to stick at it and see what happens.

If you know how to suffer on a climb then you'll be fine in a chain gang, not that the two are identical but putting out similar power just on the flat + group riding skills of course :)

Heading along to my local chain gang for the first time tonight  place I bought the new shoes ^^^ from actually has an Elite level race team  around 45 members in the club and Thursday is Tempo CG. Sets off from the shop (1.5 miles down the road) at 5PM-ish but doesn't actually meet until 6:15PM further afield (6 miles away) to commence battle :p. I finish work and usually out the door at 4:30PM so 5PM may be a bit of a stretch normally but not starting CG'ing until later gives me some grace.

There's also a Race Pace CG up the Beacon and back which I'm sure will stretch me  same timings which again means those who work regular hours have a hope in getting there in time.

New Park Tool cutters finally arrived from Wiggle. Worse than the last set. Quite a big scratch on the surface. Is it unreasonable to be expecting untouched products when paying full new price?
So they've pretty much told me to go elsewhere. After 36 hours they've finally responded and told me to return this set for a refund. I ordered last Tuesday the original set so still without a new set to use. Anyone would think I ordered them for the fun of it and not to do a job!

Pretty shocking to be honest. I would make a complaint of it, pull the "I want this forwarded to your manager" trick.

Result!

Except when your neighbours are chatterboxes cos they're 70 odd and haven't spoke to anyone in like 3 weeks. That'll be my neighbours, both sets.
Haha, got several of them like that around me. Did you know Diane's son has a Subaru that he keeps in her garage because where he lives he doesn't have a garage?

I really need to get back into foam rolling, kinda gave up when we moved house late last year and never started again as my volume dropped through the winter. Never had the space before, but I do now!

He asked the guy why he'd got an 11 speed cassette, and he said well, he wanted 11 speeds.
A little knowledge is dangerous! :D

You'll be fine mate, if it's a 'group ride' then you'll not be dropped doing threshold and can sit in if struggling! The main thing is to keep pushing yourself, certainly this time of year!

How did it go? :D

Wohoo my new glasses have been delivered to the practice, I'll see if the boss can pick them up or I'll cycle and get them after work.

At full price the lenses would have been £800   . Thank god I never pay full price!

Alas Benny's crystal ball broke so unfortunately he's not longer able to see into the future! :p
Doh! Assumed it was last night as didn't get on here much yesterday afternoon! ;)

I might buy an element... or bolt? Which?

:p
Bolt.

Has exactly the same features as the ELEMNT, think even the same hardware? Just smaller screen, more aero and 1 less line of LED's. I only tend to use the left side ones as HR zone anyway and could easily do without them. The top ones are more useful - I keep them clear so when they flash (when riding without pressing 'Start') I notice them. They also flash for starred segments and I think for turns when navigating?

Elemnt is a little bigger and supports an extra two data fields to be displayed on the screen at once but to be honest 7 is more than enough.
This. I hardly ever have more than 5 on my screen most of the time anyway...

Worth checking with Canyon if there is an insert available to fit the Bolt into the Canyon aero mount on your integrated stem mount. If there is for the ELEMNT just be sure the Bolt has clearance, else you'll be wasting your Canyon integrated mount...

Is 11-speed 10-42 SRAM Apex normally quite unpredictable, in terms of how many gears you want to shift up for an incline, or is this indexing issues? Had a test ride yesterday afternoon, the 55.5cm CX Team gave my lower back no grief at all, but I really did not like my first experience of SRAM "Double Tap" gearing after decades with Shimano STIs. I suspect the 10-12-14-16-18-21-24-28-32-36-42 jumps don't help, but despite the nice sales price of £800 before BC discount, I'm really not sure now.

Last night, I thought I'd found my almost perfect bike, the 2017 Giant Revolt 1/2. Carbon fork, 50mm tyre clearance, Shimano STI... But this morning I discovered the Giant in-house hydraulics are those hideous cable/hydraulic hybrids! :(

Given how prices have shot up since last summer, it is looking increasingly likely it's a trip from Southampton to probably Reading's Evans, for an Arkose X 2017... Or forget the whole idea.

33 miles this morning. Over 2000 feet so quite climby. Horribly windy so some of it was very heavy going, though I did score some PRs on the return leg with the wind behind me!

I had to bin my overshoes 5 miles in as they were so ragged they were snagging in my cleats and making it hard to clip in. I had frozen toes for the rest of the ride!

Well, bottom bracket fitted and I only nearly severed my thumb with the chain ring (only a slight exaggeration) so not too bad by my standards. I'll get out and give it a spin later. Just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit, I'm sure 12C will feel so much more pleasant than the current 10C :p
