Road Cycling

I tried running yesterday morning for just 2.5 miles. I wouldn't advise. My legs still hurt - more than they ever have from cycling.
I know it's not cycling but I got into it a bit, really good for me due to suffering reynauds, so able to keep warm on a cold evening. Also much easier just chucking on some clothes when I'm back from work.

Good training for cx too. Managed to get down to a 20:01 5k before my off few weeks back, whicj is just bit too painful to run on from the bruising still. Besides now summer is up and running much rather be out on the bike!

Daft question here but is there a difference in shifter cables? I'm looking to replace mine as one of the cables at least is quite worn so want it changed before it snaps and rips the inside of my legs off

My bike is the Triban 300 https://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-300-road-bike-white-id_8239800.html and I'm looking to place an order on wiggle today for it but I've been left a little perplexed

Any old cable should do. Go for this I reckon:

Don't worry about it snapping and slicing your leg off, it's not tight enough for that. If it snaps mid ride you'll just find yourself stuck in an unhelpful gear.

I've tried a couple of runs lately. Longest so far is 1.4 miles. I'm going to try something longer this evening. I figure it's good cross training. My first run - just a mile - practically killed me. I couldn't walk right for days and going downstairs was horrific.

Edit: just run 6km to see if I could. I can. Bet my legs will be sore tomorrow.

I used the Lifeline brake cable sets and they're perfectly fine. I use the Transfil gear inners can't remember which gear outers I use.

Do a forum search as both gear and brake inner/outers are different and can't be mixed.

Imperial metric today. Very easy first 50 heading north to Reading to cheer on friends at endure 24 (stupid running thing) then a tough 50 back. Bang on 6 hours, with some energy to push it up the last climb to home. Sun was out most of the day, summer is back!

New Shimano RC7 turned up today, never had carbon soled shoes before. Definitely going to take a bit of getting used to..

New bike day :D Apologies for the noisy photo its very dark outside. Also i forgot again to take the orange warning stickers off the wheels! I'm looking for a new saddle but need it to be as close to 155mm as possible...any suggestions? Specialized have a fantastic range but was wondering if theres any other brands that cover this width saddle?

Well my lack of mileage was easily made up last 2 days 100 miles yesterday, 67 today with the club. So much easier to do miles when you've got company.

Stravistix shows YTD vs prior year at the same point in time. Not YTD vs Prior Year Annual Mileage. Strava shows the latter further down on the same page.

Cheers, I read it properly and it says that above the table... I'll blame the Tennent's.

No miles yesterday due to work and a hangover and none today due to weather.

Urgh. 18 miles this evening in the most dire wind. I got a huge boost going in one direction for a mile or so, and took in a climb I've not ridden before which was pretty good though quite steep, then nearly died on a descent thanks to the crosswinds wobbling my front wheel every which way. I was glad to get home.

Cheers will take a look into them. Although i did notice the Lifeline cables were out of stock on Wiggle. :)

EDIT

Also as a side note, I'm seriously tempted to but this bike http://www.wiggle.co.uk/de-rosa-idol-disc-105-mechanical-road-bike/ Is there much of a noticeable difference going from rim brakes to disk brakes?

The Fizik Antares large might do the job, it's not quite 155mm at 152mm, but it would be worth testing. Nice bike!

You're absolutely right. Riding to Loch Lomond taught me this as the last day I did on my own and it was the hardest by far, and not just because of the elevation. Has made me question my 'no club' stance a fair amount.

What saddle do you have on your previous bike? I've never seen any compelling reason to change unless you have problems (or like my favourite saddle, they stopped making them in 1995)

(not sure why that only shows 729 miles as it was around 1300 last year)
Good mileage, you've upped it quite quickly! I'm ahead of target (so far) for the year 2144/4500

New cleats too? Both together can feel pretty weird! Such a firm few first clip ins with carbon soles and new cleats! SPD-SL's are worse than Keo's for it!

Why that particular width? Sounds quite wide... Think most of the saddle I have are listed at 143mm? My current is the Specialized Phenom, so good I bought another for the turbo (to replace a Fizik Arione).

HUGE difference! Well. Depending which rims and pads you're coming from. The De Rosa are nice bikes but I'd consider that underspec/overpriced. I paid around the same for my Diverge with better hydra brakes.
