Good work! :D

Binned it this morning.

Braked hard to avoid a normie commuter who ignored a set of lights. Braked hard on a damp oily road. Yay!
FFS! He should've given way? Hope you gave him some abuse! There was a load of helmets on the Wiggle Ebay page a couple of days back, could be worth a look if you wanted a bargain replacement. Heal up, hope nothing else comes to light.

I had two *whooops* moments on the way in. Just wet roads/paths and cars approaching junctions which the cycle path I was using cuts across. One junction which I've only ever seen another car use once (in 10 months of commuting as it's a military housing estate opposite 'the camp' so I think for emergencies only, not access). Googlemaps does show a car on it but it's all been changed since 2009! I was just going too quick and skidded the back wheel, he was far enough back that if I hadn't killed speed would've been nice and clear, wasn't close just surprised me! The second on another junction which the cycle path crosses, car was stationary around 20 feet back as I approached so didn't kill too much speed, yet just as I'm dropping off the pavement he begins moving, still plenty of room but ffs! Was really not the morning for it today! If either of them had been carrying more speed and braking hard at the junctions it would've been close.

I know cycle paths at junctions are a nightmare, I ignore this one at lunchtime but get too much abuse and punishment passes if I don't use it morning/evening in the busy traffic (it's a 40mph road). :o

Dry roads/paths I'd have stopped easier. Different tyres probably too! Have really gone off these Mitchelin Pro4's after riding them in 28mm, grip seems worse than I remember in 25mm. Could also be the extra stopping power of hydra discs doesn't help...

It's a Kinesis, so hangers are easy and cheap fortunately, and I always keep a few plugs when I change tapes so that's easily sorted too.

The offender was clean gone by the time I got up. It happens a lot at this junction, I may just plough through the next one

It's worth using your drama/acting degree to force the point home at times. Most other cycle commuters scare me, usually from lack of road awareness and consideration of others, much like above!

In other news... A bargain (£32) pair of Castelli 'Wiggle Exclusive' shorts, although superb are an absolute 'mare to try and colour coordinate a jersey with. So I didn't even try this morning and just went for as many colours as possible... Inb4 #massivequads

Budget commuting gear... £32 shorts, £16.99 ebay jersey, £11 arm screens/warmers. Think I'll just go for Grey/Black/White jersey next time as the purple isn't as prominent as I thought on these shorts.

£32 :( I thought my £39 ones from Merlin were a bargain :p I also didn't follow the advice to size up by one or two sizes and instead used the 'logic' that my other large bibs are getting a bit big so I'll simply buy large Castelli as I'm a bit slimmer now. I mean they fit ok but I need to make sure I don't put any weight back on :o

Funnily enough I'm finding I'm more comfortable not wearing padded shorts on up to 20 mile rides now (haven't tried any further).

So I bought one of the cheapy Eastway single speeds from Wiggle. Surprised by the fact it's not total ****! Actually pretty well made, heavy as you'd expect from steel but really cannot complain for the money.

I need to learn how to properly tension the chain and get the wheel straight as the chain clicks a bit at the minute despite it looking true to the eye and I want some drops and brake levers, bull bars are bit hipster for me but as an all weather, commuter/pub bike, what a bargain.

Nice :)

I was pretty tempted but then the price went up by a third!

Looking for new tyres to replace the cheapy Yaw/Prorace Nitro that came on my Ribble bike.

We're heading off to Lanzarote at the end of September and plan to do a chunk of road biking over there for 10 days. I'm primarily looking for a tyre that will have decent puncture resistance and will work well in the warm conditions there but also do should there be rain on the trip and deal with autumn weather back in Scotland.

I'm a right noob when it comes to road biking btw. My gf will likely be riding GP4000s and these tyres for my wheels might look to be more of a training all season type tyre we can share, so would a Conti Grand Prix 4 Season tyre do?

Cheers

4 Seasons are a good bet yep. Wouldn't see a much of an issue with GP4000 SIIs either for winter but probably a little less puncture resistant.

My sodding grub screw for the brake pad has rounded out

Gave @FrenchTart a scare yesterday afternoon, descending in to Goyt Valley.

After a little light rain I was headed slightly too enthusiastically in to a tighter corner than it appeared (having just come past him).. :o core strength of peace saved the back end stepping out more than 2 foot. #Saganghandlingskills

Just felt like giving him a good view of my chainset in action at 40+mph, honest :p
