Road Cycling

Plenty of other factors at play, fuelling, temperature, sleep, sickness, time of day etc.

I don't really find the standard warm-up and clearing effort sufficient, normally it takes me a good 45-50 minutes to start fully firing on all cylinders with my weekday evening rides.
Definitely other factors at play! I think I might attempt another test saturday or sunday morning when rested (if bambino hasn't arrived!) ;)

I struggle too with the warm up's not being long enough, I need a good 15 minutes to really get into the flow of things. I can go hard fairly cold but I do really find myself more stiff afterwards. Think that's a by product of my commuting .

So would ERG mode make the turbo quieter, by virtue of reducing the spin needed to make a target power?
If the majority of your noise is coming from the turbo spinning (it usually isn't)!

Replacement parts and kit. Shorts, helmet, bars, stem, pedals, derailleur and saddle.
Good! :)

Trainer noise is dependent on speed not power - You could be at 300w doing 5mph or 50mph :)
The faster you're going the more noise your trainer will make.
This. The vast majority of noise comes from your drivechain and vibrations, not from the trainers brake.

This specific discussion kinda belongs in the Trainer thread anyway! ;)

Did you do an FTP workout or just ride yourself and time 20min?

On the workouts ERG mode is disabled anyway.
Used the one in Zwift!

I'll blame my legs again then ;)

Pfffft, you need a Kask Velgro anyway (unsure if they come in yellow, speak to Chris Froome if you struggle to source one!) ;)

MET are doing some nice helmets in various colours and I'm sure I've seen some Giro's in yellow... Specialized of course have several in Orange/Torch colours...

I've got a Large Kask Infinity with a few light scuffs on (came off the first time I wore it) if you're desperate! Tried a Mojito afterwards and Kask are just not a good fit on me. Should've returned it but couldn't worn/damaged! :(

I kinda have an a strong liking for Kask helmets. The one which got destroyed was a full yellow Vertigo 2. Loved it! I'm using an old black MET at the moment, it will do for now. But thanks for the offer!

I think I'm going to wait it out and see what the Kask offering brings :)

Okay, so I got a Garmin 820 this week and first impressions are the touchscreen is **** and barely functions if you're wearing gloves.

Before the Elemnt Bolt fanbois appear, I chose not to get the Bolt because I couldn't be bothered to buy/change six out-front mounts!:p

I will be testing the GPX routing functionality on Sunday so we'll see how that goes.

Superstar released a new Garmin mount and seemed to be claiming for the Wahoo devices you can just swivel the insert that holds the Garmin 90 degrees. Not sure if it actually works well though.

Rear puncture this morning around 50 yards from home so quick bike swap & wheel swap onto the Defy... Think my rear Pro 4 Endurance has had it, 3 punctures in the last 5-6 weeks! Boo! Was about time to swap back to the Specialized Roubaix for winter anyway... Will swap it at lunch before it rains later and I get a wet arse (no guards on Defy!).

Still using my K Edge without a Wahoo puck for it... I just rotated the insert and put a bit of sticky back velcro behind to keep my ELEMNT snug in there and it's enough, it's done ~750 miles ok! I'll grab a puck at some point, Madison are meant to stock them but didn't have them listed last time I checked.

My Superstar mount (2 years old) the insert is slightly too large to fit the ELEMNT into, it could probably with a little trimming/sanding but I wanted to retain the mount for my old 810 (which last weekend is totally FUBAR and won't even work when not mapping/GPS on the turbo. DERP!). The Garmin insert on my K Edge rotates easily and fits the ELEMNT fine (see above).

Is the Garmin mounting system proprietary? Or have Wahoo just rotated it 90deg to be annoying?

Bike cam mounts are universal, why do bike computer mounts have to be different!

Wahoo have rotated it 90 degrees and added 'stops' into their mount so their units will only go in '1 way' yet won't shake/bounce loose like a Garmin can (not that mine ever did).

There's a minor size difference as my ELEMNT won't quite fit in my Superstar mount (which my 810 is tight in anyway). The Garmin branded 'band' mount will hold an ELEMNT, as will my K Edge, but you need to be able to rotate the insert 90 degrees.

I believe Cateye and Leyzne are the same orientation but no idea on size, does sound like Garmin have stopped others being exactly the same so they've just switched orientation.

Bike cam mounts are only 'universal' because they are GoPro compatible (and I guess GoPro allowed others to use their mounting unlike Garmin)...

I've switched to my stock Bontrager wheels and Bontrager tyres now for the autumn/winter. I don't care how many potholes I hit with them, nor do I care how much the turbo rips the rear up. If we have a few nice mild days though I can easily swap back to my (substantially lighter) Fulcrums, 30 second job. Next best thing to having two road bikes is having a spare set of wheels/tyres with cassette all fitted and ready to hot swap.

Haha tell me about it... Well more specificially tell the other half! My main bike is disc brake and thru axle... With one set of wheels... Because the revenue protection officer won't let me buy any (yet). Doh! ;)

My turbo (old) bike is rim brake QR and has 3-4 sets of wheels...

Talking of GPS units, I now have 2 ELEMNT's after a random ebay flurry :p
Greedy! You do know that doesn't make you twice as fast don't you? The BOLT being aero maybe a different story... ;)
