Road Cycling

I'm pretty poor when it comes to stretches (or to put it another way I don't do any!) but I only get this on my Raleigh. Looking last night as I was riding my foot looks to be in front of my knee right from the 12 o'clock position all the way through to the 6 o'clock position so I'm way out in terms of bike fit.

Get both your bikes, a plumb bob and a ruler. Using the plumb bob take a vertical through the centre of the BB axle, and check how far each bike's saddle is behind the BB. If they're different saddles, try not to depend on the "tip" too much, it's the place your sit bones sit that really matters

As Merlin said, some simple 'self maintenance' will remedy most minor niggles if they aren't persistent.

If your cleats haven't moved and it's only the right leg your foot is out of place on then it suggests something odd has happened with your bike!

Thanks for the advice. It is only my right knee I'm feeling it in but both legs are positioned wrong. I've got a day off tomorrow so I'll have a play with the bike to get it set up right.

Bit too gusty and a little damp for me to fancy riding today!

The exercise might have done me some good, but it's been really overcast here in Southampton, so no outdoor SAD benefits... I've had to keep my main mancave light on all day due to the gloom.

Weather is absolutely crap at the moment, cycled home from work on Tuesday and it was really blowy hence a top ten and a KOM with a tailwind.

Couldn't stick it today so drove to work in the wind and rain, got sad when it was dry most of the day, then felt fine when it pee'd down when I finished work.

Put the Orbea up for sale, will see what I can get for it rather than have it sat until March getting older.

Need to see what I can afford Felt FR wise or Merida Scultura.....

He's about the only person I can think of who'd strava the ride home to his wife in labour.
You where not far wrong... She had been suffering from leg cramps (and fingers!) towards the end of pregnancy, so when I received a txt that morning ('weekly shop done but still having cramps') I assumed she meant leg cramps... I got home at lunchtime and she's lay over the birthing ball having contractions! FFS! I went a bit nuts at her but alas once they were over she happily ate lunch and had a good chat about things before the next came along. They where ~15-20 minutes apart at that stage and not that bad (like indigestion) so she even sent me back to work! I was ready to stay home but she was adamant there was no point me being there. As someone noted, I left work at 4 once sorting a few things and getting things in order ready for my 2 weeks off! :)

I would have taxi'd it back
It'd take ~20 minutes minimum to get a taxi here, even within the city limits. I can get home on the bike quicker! (7-8 mins if I nail it!) ;)
My money is on Wednesday. :)
Close! Contractions wednesday, 1cm dilated at 9pm when we went in (& got sent home). Back in at 12:30, 4cm dilated. 9cm dilated by 5-6am before having an epidural followed by birth with foreceps, 7.48am on the 28th :)
Flimsy velcro mounts
A friend who bought one has had 2 replacements already, one the strap/casing broke and it went bouncing down the road, the replacement stopped working in the rain. I think he wants his money back!
Where will he sit? Won't fit in his saddle bag..
What you have all failed to notice is the extra capacity I'll have from two saddlebags - one attached to the ride-along! ;) :D
Cry baby alert.
What?! Where?! #sotired
Congratulations Roady. :) Sounds like the dog will make an excellent baby sitter so no doubt you'll be racking up the miles again soon. :D
Thanks & thanks to everyone else for your thanks! :D

I've told myself that I'm not riding outside in October, so only on the turbo and commuting. We're managing ok baby wise, but I like the 'convenience' of being just in the garage 5 mins away if I'm really needed. I've caught a couple of Zwift races/training rides but need to work on some regular sessions as ad-hoc is just meaning I've done 2-3 rather than 5-6! :o
Pretty good, anyone spotted any more?! :D
Apparently this thread is nothing without @Roady . No posts since Saturday!
Luls. Back now, normal service is resumed with a massive multi-quote. np! ;)
Massive congrats @Roady
Thanks buddy! :D
P1S - £430 on PBK
+4% Quidco

Or use the 10% First order code for £20 off (Capped) and then +2% Quidco.
Quite tempting as I'm still paranoid about 'only' having my chainring PWM (which restricts me to 1 bike & certain cranks & has chainrings which wear out!). Not sure how I'd get it past her though... ;)

How much is the powertap upgrade kit to dual? About the same (£450) isn't it?
Anyone have any recommendations for cheapish SPD CX type shoes?
The Giro Treble II I bought on a whim for commuting came with two bolt & 3 bolt fittings and they've been superb shoes! Almost as comfortable as my Sidi's at a quarter the price! :D

Not sure but upgrade kits tend to be priced so that it's slightly less favourable than just buying dual to begin with. The P1 set is available on CRC at the moment for £800 and BC would get you £80 off that to make them £720.

In other news my Sunday recovery rides are now sorted for good :D 16m/500ft each way down quiet country roads.

Good point, I'm always considering the P1's at £950 but they are sold cheaper than that... I just wonder about Vectors now the 3 is out, might be some great deals on 2's which have been around the £700 price range even before the 3's release.

Expensive sunday rides?! I think you have to be a member = £135 annually for recovery rides! :o

Have you been to the 'Bicester Archive Store' yet? If you go there regularly could you check if they have the Core/Wiggins Core bib shorts there and what price(s) please? They may not be 'old' enough to end up at the archive stores yet, but I know standard Rapha shorts where selling <£90 at the Shepton Mallet store (which I think is the same thing, they call it 'Kilver Court Archive Store', it was the first one). May have a job for you... ;)

To be fair it's not far from the sister-in-laws (Wing) so I could get there easier than SheptonM, but we don't tend to visit them very regularly as her kids are a nightmare/headache/hyper/spoilt!

^ The monster posts are back! :)
You're welcome! :D

What are the best cheapish say 250-400 quid, rim brake british standard threaded bb frames available.
Dolan, Ribble, Planet X, Mango would be the proper cheap ones I'd be thinking of... most will be aluminium at that price but you might stretch to carbon at Planet X. Genesis Equilibrium if you fancy steel. You can't quite stretch to a Kinesis on that budget, which is a shame.

Membership does get you free coffee ;)

Store doesn't open until the 20th, so no :p Picked up my Wiggins Core bibs for £60 and £80 each online during sales or with discount, such bargains.

But you don't need membership for the RCC rides?

To be honest I'm not going to be surprised if we see a clubhouse pop up somewhere around here, there's several big Rapha fanboys who are some of the stalwarts of riding/training here that most of the others look to (one runs his own gym, another runs the local race club). I kinda hope it'll be over towards Malvern for some good routes around the Malverns rather than in boring Hereford though! ;)

Yeah some of the deals are fantastic, the Core bib shorts I picked up for £75 in the last sale are superb. I want more but I know if I can wait for another equal sale I'll happily pay £150 for two pairs, but standard £100 each is steep enough I'd only buy one... The Sportful Gruppetto shorts (which where my go to before @£65 each) although not terrible are poor in comparison. I'd got to those from Castelli Progetto X2 & KISS pads so I've about exhausted all Castelli & Sportful pad variations... Been through some Santini, DHB & Northwave. Not many brands left! Assos, but they're even more expensive than Rapha! :o

Surrey I guess, definitely not Kent as I've been out there a couple of times recently.

Looking at your rides on Strava I may be too slow for you.:p

Pah! That's unlikely. I don't have shiny deep section wheels or a bright coloured Bianchi :p

I'm up for Surrey. I've dropped you a message in trust to take it out of this thread. Though if anyone else London-based fancies joining - do shout!

I've been toying with the idea of a Dolan RDX as a winter / cyclocross bike.

Though this could also be worth a punt for the price - Radial Revere Frameset £99
