Amazing how the same time on the road pales into insignificance when you go off road. Just your all over body effort seems to double!
Yeah. I did 37 miles off-road today. Took me 9 hours!

all, what's the best site/ method to sell an unwanted road bike? I sold a cheap road bike a couple of years ago on ebay but with this one is worth a bit more (only £1kish but is carbon ultegra etc so a bit more specialised).
Once those Kenda Kriterium's are in the bin that will be a decent machine. Unless Kenda have improved them since the ones that came on my Dolomite 3 back in 2015.Mate of mine bought a 2017 Pinnacle Dolomite 2 today. Seems like a lot of bike for the money if anyone's looking to spend £550 or so

Haha tell me about it. Basically using the online help for most of it and that's a mixture of versions even on MSKB, the specific help for the build is supplied & customised by the vendor we're using (as MS pulled it) and has various gaps as they're a year behind with some parts (doesn't help that MS have 4 builds/releases a year for each version!).If it's any consolation, the 2017 instructions probably dont relate to the 2017 product any better anyway![]()
Thanks for rubbing that in!I’ve been loafing on a beach in Thailand and eating too much for the past couple of weeks.
The guys I know have been there 5 years now and the guy I know best has been there since 2011/12. He's ended up in huge open mines/quarries driving huge excavating equipment near Perth, at one point in a diamond mine! To be fair it's the family and friend ties which seem to be the biggest problem for most. See it loads of times on these Home&Abroad kinda TV programs, it's hard to move a family to a new country where there's literally no support, can't imagine the people who try it with young kids. How long have they been there for? We lived there for over 5 years. It’s a long time starting from nothing.
It’s also a long way back to England and a long time. You miss a lot if you have friends here, birthdays, weddings, funerals, Christmas (unless you sacrifice all your money & holidays).
Get some disposable gloves to carry with you, I use these or similar. Use them when working/cleaning when in the garage and also carry a couple of pairs with me, they're quite good to stop things rattling in my saddlebag too!So I tend to ride country lanes late at night and always had this thought in the back of my head "what if I was to get a puncture in the pitch black while in the middle of nowhere?" Well... now I know the answer, it sucks! Things went further downhill when I wiped my filthy hands on the grass and found the remains of the hawthorn hedge that must have been cut back months prior![]()
Is there any places still for the MMH? Sure I read a while ago it was full? That 72 miles in March is going to hurt if you don’t get back on the bike ASAP![]()
About half? How many watts has this been costing me?!
![]()
About half?
What RD are they from? Look totally different bushings from the 5800 & 6800 ones I have. Pulley on left is good but right one needs replacing. Hint: they're not worth buying separately if non DA, just buy a new RD.
Yeah I always carry gloves and normally use them. Problem is my hands were quite clamy after having my thick winter gloves on and after faffing about trying to get them on for a couple of minutes I ripped them off and didn't bother. In hindsight I should have persisted!Get some disposable gloves to carry with you, I use these or similar. Yep it's full but they are running a reserve listIs there any places still for the MMH? Sure I read a while ago it was full?.
Weird, the bushings look like they've got a middle medal axle which mine don't have. I considered buying ceramic replacements but after reading the approximate 'gains' I just bought a new RD (not that carbon ceramic arm! @SoliD has a more sensible priced one). My 105 (5800) was getting a bit stiff and had taken a few knocks, including an off which ripped the cable out of it. It was only a matter of time until the damage was going to cause a problem (cable holding screw had only limited thread left in the hole). I snaffled a 6800 medium cage for £21 on the 'bay, looked unused when it arrived. Lots of new/barely used out there for similar money, probably new short cages if you're not running a 32T?Yeah definitely half watts. So about 50w then
They're both 6800 upper jockey wheels. Left from my GS and right hand one from the second hand SS I fitted the other week. I'd say both are fairly worn but the right hand one is worn out a lot more! Things seem to be better with the left hand one back on now anyway... excuses gone
I found a replacement set I like.
RGT I think is in beta and is free. There's lots of trainer specific training suites out there (like you found the Wahoo one) but the most popular ones are generally the subscription ones. Trainerroad, Sufferfest, FullGaz & Zwift all have free trials.Another q - is there any Kickr compatible software that isn't on a subscription basis? Not sure If I'm being old fashioned but I dislike that I could sink $120 a year in to a product and then have nothing to show for it at the end.
I'm currently using the wahoo app which allows me to set an ERG wattage - i'd like an app/software with some basic programmable functionality that would allow me to program some specific interval sessions.
Does anything like that exist - or do I need to program one in my own time?
I've still got an annoying stain on my gilet from an oily finger, it's a constant reminder to always put gloves on!Yeah I always carry gloves and normally use them. Ok to use every weekend, it's just an aero road bike and being Giant is quite well specced and regarded for the money. Benny sold his to @Maxeh (I believe) who ended up living in Holland/Belgium and has ridden some pretty horrific cobbled climbs on it without issue! I would certainly have one, I think the 2018 one is disc brake too... Although the TCR seems to be the racers choice the last 18 months or so, most of the guys around here before that bought Propels. What are people's thoughts on the Giant Propel? I'm sure @BennyC use to have one that he sold to another member on here too?
probably new short cages if you're not running a 32T?
Spotted some cheaper ultegra wheels, a fairly well used medium here for £25 but wheels look good. This one here looks very good. The state of some of the stuff people try and sell lol.

A few people don't like the different aero brakes the Propel has, having a problem with a lack of power. There is an aftermarket alternative if you do. Don't think Benny or Max had problems with them though!
