Road Cycling

Depends on the sensor & Strava. I think Strava will now connect to BT sensors but research it first! Particularly your mobile and ANT+/BT (to confirm it'll work before you purchase).

Which sensor is it? Garmin?

It's this one:
IGUSCBIK part number
I-got u speed and cadence sensor.

I have an ANT+ HR strap already, so I guess ANT+ would be a better option? Works fine with that on my Note 4

I noticed when looking at the Strava August distance challenge that there's another person going for the cycling year record:
https://www.strava.com/athletes/10033054

Had a look at the circuit though, seems like it's an 11km paved circuit with no cars, and it's certainly flat! 360km around there with 100m elevation! Seems an incredibly dull way of completing the record but that's some kind of mental endurance in itself

People who don't have a saddle bag. How do you distribute things people usually keep in there about your person?bike...or do you not bother?

You can fit everything you actually need in jersey pockets, but I just use a saddle bag now so everything is there when I want to ride. Much easier than rounding up tools and tubes.

So today on my ride on I tried to bend my arms and lowered my head and body closer to the bike. All I can see is what a difference - even if you transition slowly you notice the improvement every few cm you drop. Just need to get my arms stronger now so support my body then I'm good to go - but yeah thanks for the advice.

Can't see/find any info on it so guess you'll just have to try it and see! If you have any problems with Strava picking things up then I can recommend IPBike. Much of the development for the Strava app is driven by the iphone, with things trickling down to android afterwards. But this has introduced very slow development of key features - like sensors and ANT+ support. Until they were eventually supported by apple/iphones (several years after android).

That's the way to do it though, look at the last few months of Kurts effort, he rode the same closed circuit day after day. Although I was quite disappointed as I wanted to see it beaten on open roads. A shame but think he was getting worried he wouldn't beat it without.

Same. I commute with the same saddlebag even though I don't need half of what I'm carrying on my 2.5 mile commute lol

Still nice to know I've got everything without having to 'remember', if you know what I mean?

I used to pack everything neatly in to a large glasses case. (2 tubes, 2 CO2 + Valve, 2 Tyre Levers, Multi-Tool and a few other bits). And stuck that in a jersey pocket. Though it was a bit heavy/bulky but didn't bother me.

I don't really like the look of a saddle bag but recently got a saddle mounted bottle cage holder & zipped tool bidon which I much prefer. Marginally more weight but also able to carry an extra bottle if needed.

I have found it to 'bounce out' on a couple of occasions despite being wedged in well but a small strap round the outside has secured it nicely and it doesn't budge now.

Last weekend it jumped out and split open :o and I've just realised I probably didn't recover my CO2 valve for not being able to see it in the rain. So I'll be taking my minipump with me today rather than carrying to unusable CO2 cans again like I did unknowingly on Tuesday! :p

But where do I put my copious amounts of bananas and jam sandwiches then?

In your cheeks (face not arse ) like a hamster :p

Get a saddlebag, loads of room in them for sandwiches. Could get a toptube bag for bananas too! :D

Core strength is key for much of it, I found riding with my elbows lowered and couple of fingers hooked below the hoods to be great for aero and very quick/easy to transition to when the drops were just not convenient. Also quite nice to climb like that too, if I'm in the drops I tend to sprint lol :rolleyes:

EDIT: Benny. Lose the Bidonkadonk. You're not a Triathlete. Gawd ;) (filling in for xdcx)

Sunny day outside....off work...oh no...that means...another part of my bike will break.

Front gear cable pwn'd. Outer looks pretty fudged as well so...trip to the bike shop for me.

Managed to get some red Jagwire outers from the LBS and some new inners of..whatever brand they prefer over Jagwire for those (I'd be happy with any tbh - not a huge fan of Jagwire inners).

Anyhow, important thing is that I'll still have a bit of bling on the cables ;)

Guys with discs. Yesterday was the first time my 785's have seen serious wetness. They coped fantastic (only slight power reduction in a downpour is incredible), but the front did sound like a car horn a number of times... HOOOOOONK! The rear was 'silent'. I've noticed the front does also make a flickflickflickflickr kinda noise when in the dry and lightly braking. Related? Anything I can do? Have not tweaked any adjustment with them yet.

And enough time to sort them and get yourself out on the roads. Day off and glorious weather is a wasting mate! Some of us are stuck at work (boo). :(

EDIT: Easy social shop ride tomorrow, has been far too long since I went out with them. Very tempted to go with the fast group for some real training!

Sadly I'm out at a friend's bday later..and even more sadly it's in Salford.

From the sounds of things your front might be very very slightly out of alignment but not enough to worry about. It's also almost inevitable that you'll have horrendous noise in the wet :o

Yeah, but that's where my tubes go.

It's just the way pads work, could get a different compound but the performance will reduce. Noisy Pads generally indicate higher performance.

Dear Ponces,

Do your elite premium Rapha jerzeez not have pockets or something? Stupid triathlon things and bum bags, neither is better than the other, both feature highly on the ponce scale.... A situation you must avoid at all costs because you are already so high up the scale in your baby pink coloured garments.

You are risking me having to expand the size of the ponce scale to accommodate you all. Use your pockets FFS. Pockets are for putting stuff in.

the mountain biker's way is to get them muddy, it seems to quiet them rather
