I totally agree with this statement, I've read that journalists are now actively encouraged to ignore loss of life no matter how large and focus on flower shows and horse displays.
Point in case I was just driving to work and an entire coach filled with 300 people (special coach with extra bits) blew up, it was a quiet road though and the truck driver in front had an empty rig so we picked up the pieces and drove off luckily he had been watching the whole incident through his rear view mirror (trucks have these now).
let that be a lesson to you reading this, you could die today and no one will write about it, life is short and now totally ignored by te media.

Accidents like this happen every day, so it wont be "plastered" all over anything or anywhere, it is not a rare occurrence, people die on our roads every day, and very rarely does it get publicised!!
