This is terrible news. He's one of the few really exiting f1 drivers out there and clearly very talented as well as a real nice chap. Such a shame for him and F1. I hope he recovers well.

What's with the comment:

"I don't want say this, but the commentator clearly states his arm has been amputated............."
Think it's someone mistranslating the commentatory, I'm pretty sure the hospital won't bother with a hand specialist to save his hand if they've already lopped it off.

From:
14:14 pietraligure.net portal reported that doctors amputated the arm Kubica. It should be noted, however, that this is an unconfirmed message. The decision to amputate needed could be taken is to convene doctors/medical council

I am trying not to read too much into these until we get an official response. Of course a delayed official response has never been good news. Imo, anything better than he survived and is stabe would be good news.

Jokester - agreed, a lot seems to be getting lost in translation. However, I have read things about both hands, so who knows what the deal is.

Damn, havent been able to see any of the pictures due to our internet connection here in work, but this sounds awful.

Really hope he is ok. He has a history of surviving rather nasty smashes, but htis sounds like it is rather career ending. Not good at all.

Some of these reports are making Kubica's future prospect in F1 very bleak indeed :(

I can only hope that these are exaggerated claims and that he makes a recovery that allows him to return, easily one of my favourite drivers!

I've just come in from footy too, not the news I wanted, going to the pub now for a mate's birthday. Certainly put a dampener on the day for me.

Oh my :( From the early reports this morning 10am it was speculated he had merely broken his hand ... but now it seems very serious :(.

I genuinely hope it's only a few broken ribs and a sprained wrist rather than the stuff I've been reading :(.

In the crash today the armco/engine has entered the cockpit - truely scary. Still, I hope he pulls through this.

Just seen the video of the rally car above with the massive whole ripped through the centre of the cockpit :( maybe it is as bad as some reports are making it out to be, but I hope not.

Hope he gets well soon :(

I have to agree with Autosport suggesting a different driver than Senna if he is going to be out for a chunk of the season. Heidfeld or someone would be better.

The press conference being moved back from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm doesn't fill me with hope, but at least we'll have a clearer picture of the extent of his injuries (no thanks to the umpteen varying reports from every "differing" source available).

In any case, I hope to see Kubica making a full recovery and racing in the R31 as soon as possible.
