Robocop Rogue City

Being that its using the UE5 engine its no surprise that the environmental lighting looks so good, but literally everything else about the game looks very, very Alpha test right now. I'm also not sure just how well "Robocop" as a character makes for good gameplay, being a slow and plodding armoured bullet-sponge who, other than one or two set pieces in the films, doesn't go around mowing down dozens of criminals which is what this demo looks like.

Whilst I loved the Terminator game the game devs made, and I can see that the team also really loved the Robocop film with all the various nods to it and even getting Weller to voice the lines, but sadly I'm not convinced that this will even bit a little bit successful looking at that gameplay, it just doesn't look "fun".

Someone on reddit commented saying that it looks and feels like a proof of concept game, which I guess is actually a very accurate description for it as far as the demo goes.

Played the demo this morning and it's quite fun when considering the subject matter despite feeling a bit clunky and the graphical detail didn't feel too bad at all (maybe I am easily pleased?)

Completely agree it's a £20 game though, same as I thought about terminator.

£25.99 on cdkeys. King of tempted. If I find a 2 or 5 quid cash back offer will grab it I think :p

Just waiting for the greedy devs to do a good offer on the terminator game that includes the dlc and I will grab that too.

Update, had a quick test and can confirm it's buttery smooth now with no stutters, but they did not fix it via shader pre-compilation... They fixed it by adding delayed-asset streaming, so now you will see higher res textures load in as you approach. It can be distractingly obvious outside, not so much inside:

I've also noticed that they've changed how RoboCop moves now, before the patch when you used WASD to move him, he would move like a robot, now I know the irony of that statement, but there was no damping or slight acceleration as he starts to walk, now there is and it feels more like a proper FPS.

I'd say in its current state, the game is in a much more polished state going by the patched demo. I'd be happy to pay £25 for the full game.

That sounds good as the stuttering was putting me off, I'll try it myself now, but what's so difficult about implementing shader pre-compilation? It's perplexing.

That's great support from the devs :)

I don't ever remember demos getting patched this quickly. In fact it's main game that usually gets patched and often not this quickly.

A good sign that the devs will continue to iron out any performance issues that crop up

I picked up Star Trek: Invasion for £18.99 yesterday. Fancy picking this up too. But too many games, not enough time it feels like.

Not even been able to finish Cyberpunk DLC yet :(
