Sadly Robochallenge have tweeted it also, they make the house robots for the show.

Supposedly toys being released soon so guess that the BBC may hold off announcing anything on that basis.

Other than this a good time for Robot combat globally however, KoB going well, Clashbots (China again) and Battlebots both coming soon too

King of Bots is worth a look, and their KoB Season 1.5 setup looks absolutely insane... pic below is just the pits & tables for the teams

Have they reused a Star Wars set - or just recreated it?

No where
Probably cancelled as not diverse enough

No gender fluid / trans people.
Not a 50/50 Women to men ratio.

Too many white guys.
Winners win by work effort rather than social fairness
Violence as a form of entertainment

Expect a replacement that will have gendwr fluid robots

The difference getting a sponsor makes.

Is that a single layer polycarb? Just thinking what happened with Apex last season...

Many people in the community talk about how good the setup is over there so can't imagine that's a problem or someone would have commented.

A trailer is out too... good for a fix of robot combat while we're without robot wars. Battlebots is filming as of next week too.

I missed a lot of the second series. Razer featured in the first. Did chaos 2, pussycat, hypnodisc and razer return? What happened to Mortis?
The only robot from the old series that made a return was that over sized tonka toy Bemouth. The problem with most of the classic robots was they were built and designed around a 99kg weight limit, by lifting the weight limit it allows for stronger armour and more powerful motors to drive spinning discs and blades, the likes of Razor, Hypodisc and Pussycat would have ended smashed to pieces if competed (the fact Razor was driven into the pits deliberately in season one tells all you need know about what chance the team thought razor had in the competition).

The Rob Knight who helped make Mortis appeared in Battlebots and built a human robot of some sorts with moving arms, it wasn't very good but was meant more of technology showcase.

As well as weight - raising the allowed voltages, brushless motors and lithium batteries has made quite a difference.

That's a link to This is fighting robots. Episode one a little light on action (first fight 40 mins in), more about 4 celebs picking robots for their teams. Believe the robots which weren't picked will now fight and I think 3 per celeb can be picked by the celebs to add to their roster as they fight.

Edit: as in KoB, Robot Wars fans will see some familiar faces both from RW and from Battlebots :D
