Rocket lake leaks

Cheap intel's incoming :)

Or wait till the end of the year for the new Intel cpus? hmmm
CPU is cheaper after intel discounting. Z motherboards are still stupid prices. if you want intel board for "best intel gaming" machine, you are still better off with Ryzen + X570/B550 boards

however if you dont care about overclocking and unlocked CPUs sure B460 board with a F variant of intel CPU then you are pretty sweet as a budget gaming combo.

if they unlocked B460 for overclocking then intel is really onto a winner.

the B560 is unlocked, however they arent exactly cheap either as they are so new and you wont be able to find any right now.

this whole last 12months have been horrendous for PC building

To many problems with ryzen.

I like intel because I can grab a motherboard and some cheap 3000hz ram and I know it will work out the box.
I only game anyway.

what do you mean too many problems with Ryzen ? have friends who I built ryzen systems for and never had issues and this is over 4 builds using different board and ram on each system ? I thought the AM4 platform would be matured now for issues

To many problems with ryzen.
Surely you meant, you CBA to learn new technology and happy to just let intel tell you what to do instead?

it’s pretty unintelligent to say Ryzen got issues.

intel chips got REAL world issues. Power consumption, chips running hot, security issues etc etc.

I think it’s a case of better the devil he knows. Ryzen is solid and has been for years.

Re-read my post why

motherboard and some cheap 3000hz ram I have done this on few builds and no issues , if it had issues we would hear about it AM4 has been out for long time now

dont think the only game thing matters anymore :D

Using the same build of windows that ran my 9900k and Z370 board. I just installed a new X570 board, 5950X and same ram, turned xmp on and it's been flawlessly running since the end of Dec last year. No WHEA errors, no usb issues and it's been 100% rock solid and this pc runs 24/7.

Whether you go Intel or Ryzen either systems can have issues.

Ryzen works when plug and play mate.

most people run into issues when they think their AMD cpu is like intel. Actually over 90% the posts on this forum asking ryzen help are people switching over from intel haswell/skylake generation. Used to intel stepspeed and auto voltage management and thinking That’s what you do to a ryzen CPU and that’s it without understanding the CPU technology.

for you to say that is the cause, it goes to show your lack of knowledge and how ignorant you are.

For comparison, I had 4770k all core Oc at 4.3Ghz it was guzzling down the same amount of power (115w peak) as my first zen CPU - 1600AF which is a 2600, but the 2600 is over 2x faster in all aspect. That is efficiency for you. Anyway I had no problems setting up that CPU. Currently on 3900x which is another massive step up in terms of performance/W. I am again getting twice as much performance over the 1600AF for about 30% more power consumption, so I have options to run full fat or undervolted.

Intel systems really hasn’t given that sort of performance leverage at all, even when 11th gen is considered.

B550 boards are pretty damn good and they have come down in price a lot.

I bought this one for £160, it had already come down from £180 and now its £140, Intel Wifi 6, 2.5Gb Lan, True 12 + 2 Phase digital VRM, USB-C, ALC 1200 Audio... its got everything and its a good looking board. https://www.gigabyte.com/uk/Motherboard/B550-AORUS-ELITE-AX-V2-rev-10#kf

If you're looking for a good board for not much money i would recommend it.

They have quite unprofessional attitude towards this Ryzen compatibility and their support is lacklustre.
How do they type this? I mean it should have been:
  1. AMD Socket AM4, support for: AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series/ 3rd Gen Ryzen™ and 3rd Gen Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Graphics Processors
  1. AMD Socket AM4, support for: AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 4000 Series and AMD Ryzen™ 3000 Series Processors
The same on the MSI's X570 Tomahawk page:

Supports AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series/ 2nd and 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ / Ryzen™ 4000 G-Series / Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics and 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Graphics Desktop Processors for AM4 socket

Instead of the correct:

Supports AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 4000 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 3000 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 2000 Series and AMD Ryzen™ 1000 Series Processors

Specification MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI | MSI Global

5000 series but second and third gen?! What gen is Ryzen 5000? :D

I got the ASUS B550m gaming plus and the MSI x570 unify.

ASUS board can clock my CPU higher and clock the ram higher too. Marginally.

but ASUS customer service is crap.

They support all Zen 2 and Zen 3 processors, i don't know what the problem is...

How do you know this? Not by the description which is stupidly written.

My RAM isn't on the list either.

"Ryzen 5000 series and 3'rd Gen Ryzen" (Ryzen 3000 series) what's your problem with this? that they didn't write "5'th Gen Ryzen and 3'rd Gen Ryzen" or "Ryzen 5000 series and Ryzen 3000 series" ?

Ryzen 5000 isn't 5'th Gen is it? And Ryzen 4000 is 3'rd Gen.

Can you see what they did there? its perfectly logical.

For quite a few people they had issues with getting their new ryzen cpus working.

I bought a 10900k instead because of that. Plug the 10900k in. A bit of fiddling with the ram and it works. It's a tank. All cores will boost to 5ghz to 5.1ghz out of the box under a stress test. Im extremely happy with it.

I wasn't going to wait for rocket lake. I can't see it being much different to the 10900k.

It's a pity that MSi skimped with the X570 Tomahawk over the Intel version.
