Rocksmith 2014

I dont mind being a parrot and pretending that I can play a real guitar(its better than pretending to play a pretend guitar).

With Rocksmith you can learn and play real songs that you like. Its going to keep me motivated longer than playing piano. And maybe if I get decent at the game I might decide to explore further.

My new guitar strap arrived today so I can get back to playing.

Really struggling with playing the guitar balanced on my knee for some reason!

Not really the right thread but what guitars do you guys have?

Ok you've been playing for a year, Ive been playing bass in actual bands for 20 years and I really don't think I am wrong here.

As builder says, it teaches you what you need to know to get through the tracks in the game, you will learn a few songs but without a proper grounding in theory it won't make you a musician, just a parrot.
There's a hell of a lot more to being a guitarist or bass player than a piece of software like Rocksmith will ever be able to teach you.

Have you even played it, or are you above it?

Because you have been playing 20 years means nothing really.

Does this still want you to have a separate sound system to play rather than your TV?

On the first one i also couldn't really get along with the difficulty changing on the fly either :(

I didn't have any problems with the first game using normal HDMI audio through the TV, but with this one there's a definite lag between me hitting the string on the guitar, and the sound coming out of the television.

Haven't bothered trying to fix it yet, but I expect that I'll just have to get off my rear and finish the reorganisation of the TV cabinet so I can put the optical splitter in there and run the Xbox through the amp.

That, or I'll probably just hook it up with Component cables instead.

Never heard of this franchise, is it really as good as it sounds? My house mate has a bog standard electric guitar (and bass). My HTPC; dual core 2.2Ghz Turion, 8GB RAM, SSD and a 6450 - sounds a bit borderline. What do you reckon?

There appears to be multiple versions of the game but providing we can get the guitar, all we need is a copy of the game and the Real Tone Cable? The HTPC is connected to the TV through an HDMI lead.

Massive Guitar Hero fan and excited by the prospect of this.

Just got my copy of this - didn't bother with the first version as I heard it had some problems - this seems really well polished.

A lot of video lessons included which also cover theory later on, your HTPC doesn't look like it meets the minimum specifications though:

It says on the box 2.6ghz c2d or 2.8ghz AMD athlon, however on steam it says:

Minimum:
OS:Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8
Processor:2.0 GHz Intel® Core™2 Duo E4400 or 2.0 GHz AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 3800+

So maybe it does?

Punched about 3 hours into this game tonight, til my hand got sore and going to play for a hour every day now.

Good luck with that! i was planning on this, been doing over 2 hours a night, fingers are quite sore but hoping it will go away soon

Just bought this for £43 from shopto (PC). Will arrive in the next couple of days I can't wait for it. I've really wanted to start playing an instrument for a long time and hopefully this will get me into it.

I'm going to go up to my local cash converter today and get myself a cheap guitar to start off with!

Does anyone know if I start the game from my US PS3 profile and buy some songs, will they show up when I log back in under my UK profile?
