Hi,

I need help with a new build I've just bought, specs as follows;

Motherboard - Asus crosshair hero 6
CPU - ryzen 1700x
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16gb - 3200mhz
GPU - Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Edition
Power supply - c550

For some reason the motherboard keeps setting the RAM at 2133 MHz, I've flashed to the latest bios (1001) to see if that helped but it didn't. How do I get the speed running as advertised? The QVL on the asus website says the sticks I have are supported.

I'm new to overclocking etc, is this something I'd have to do to get them up to speed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Breash.

I have Corsair Vengeance 32gb 3200mhz but i can only get it running at 2666mhz.. Try running it at 2666mhz... I haven't noticed anyone on here with the vengeance and the c6h running it at 3200hz..

Oh and i have tried all bios versions so far..

If it keeps dropping back down to 2133mhz when you are trying to run it at higher mhz it means the mobo doesn't like it and is sticking it back to default.

Has anyone with the C6H and vengeance mem managed to get it running above 2666mhz ?

You need to give it time and keep updating the bios as new ones come out. Hopefully over the coming months all these issues will get sorted out.

Everyone is having issues with ram at the moment. It's a big issue with Ryzen.

I'm on Vengeance with 3200. 8Gb x 2 sticks though.

needs 1.4v in both DRAM and BOOT DRAM voltages using the 1001 bios and manually entering timings. haven't played with the newer ones yet.

1002 bios? Where did you get that from Bodom? Latest I could find is 1001. Managed to get it running at 2666 last night and was stable. Played GTA 5 on Ultra and it didn't lag at all. Would be nice to get all the way up to 3200 though!

I have 5 settings for the timings on the ram. So mine would be 16/18/18/18/36..... does anyone else know why this is?

I've got the corsair H60 hydro. Would that be enough for a decent overclock on the CPU? Also, how do I go about doing that. It has the EZ tuning wizard which (according to CPUID) gets the processor up to 3900mhz & it seems stable enough. Is it worth using it for ease or am I better off doing it myself? I'm a bit dubious because I don't know what the max temp for the cpu is to operate safely!

I'm also running a NZXT AIO, the x52, is it worth changing to the AM4 mount, I'm currently using the AM3 mounting?

Worth changing for 10 minutes of work IMO.

1700 @ 3.97GHZ (1.375v) is idling (well browsing etc) at 25 deg with 18 deg room temp in an S340 case/X62 AIO. Playing CSGO for 2 hours HWinfo recorded temps up to 46 deg.
