Rome 2 : Total War

I skipped ETW and NTW they didn't look great to me, I don't think they're considered highpoints in the TW series. Hopefully this is not a creamy elephant!

:D

ETW and NTW are well worth playing I must admit I was put off by all the negativity the 'fans' were giving the game and I didn't play ETW until two years after release but quite frankly I wish I didn't listen (or read in this case) to it as I thought it was really good fun.

Actually ETW was one of the most buggiest games on release CA had ever created and this is coming from a total war fanatic

I thought it was utterly atrocious! :)

I loved empire and napoleon. Same great Totalwar but tactically completely different in how you deploy. Was a pleasant change and the graphics were superb. Huge fights with artillery and guns and everything looked amazing.

Shogun2 has been my biggest dissapointment so far.

Rome2 should bring some love back. its the one iv been waiting for. Then medieval 3 after that please :P

Ah man all this hate for ETW I guess I will never understand perhaps if I played it on release I might have a different POV but as it is I find it highly enjoyable (although naval battles were unstable for me and kept crashing but that was far from a game breaker for me). I was in game earlier today and a women picked a copy of NTW and C&C4 she was looking at both and wasn't sure which one to get and I told her NTW I would recommend NTW as it was a far superior game, I just hope I didn't make a mistake.

I actually love E:TW, my problem with it is it is unstable:

It crashes randomly.
It corrupts savegames, sometimes rendering hours of gameplay lost.

I don't have that problem with Shogun 2, that one is solid.

I've loved them all with the exception of Napoleon (which was too scripted for me I hate being told I have to take such and such a region within a certain number of turns) and Shogun 2 which for some reason I just can't get in to.

This pretty much sums me up also. I felt the same for Napoleon as I did for Alexander.

My fav is deffinately Empire. I just love the period for warfare and exploration. I sunk months into the huge campaigns :P
Shame more mods weren't possible. For some reason I didn't enjoy the darth mod on this one much. Just some sound/smoke mods and I tried a portrait/music one which was ok.

Still. Love Rome too and this is shaping up to be taking all the best elements of all it's predicessors!
