Rome 2 : Total War

Rome Total War was a highlight in the series for me & I'm excited if this does indeed turn out to be true, I just hope they return to do Empire Total War 2 after, as I feel that the era Empire was set in was not really done justice properly by that game, it fell short in a number of areas that Shogun 2 seems to have ironed out since.

Loved RTW also, greatly looking forward to this. Still though don't understand the Empire TW hate? I thought it was great and have recently been replaying it with the DMUC mod which makes it even better!

Lets hope this one doesn't have more bugs than an empire-state sized ant hill, Shogun 2 is one of the best games I've ever played, but it is so pathetically bugged, and was made for PC... its unexcuseable, you wouldn't expect this level of **** coding from a console port...

Despite all that it's one of the best games I've ever laid my hands on, sort yourselves out C.E, don't roll with this much potential and fall short of perfection because you won't test your games and most of your developers spend 1% of the development time coding while doped up on MDMA.

Better castle sieges & more Triarii sound effects.

Agreed. The AI was retarded in the original; especially when defending a castle. You could just sit back and watch the attackers get destroyed by the town defense's.

I would like to see diplomacy and subterfuge improved upon. I guess they could do some interesting things around the Vatican as well. I have every faith they will make this game great though

Worst kept secret in the industry at the moment. I am very excited but also a little apprehensive about whether they will go for a more streamlined version a la Shogun 2 or a complete game of the century like Empire but with 99% less bugs.

Got to start saving as this is the only game on PC i solely upgrade for. Glad i got the monitor, just need SLI for this beast of a game.

This is fantastic news!

As much as I enjoyed Shogun 2, the fact that all factions had near identical units limited some of the replayability for me.

My favourite thing about Rome was the variety.

March north and face the endless hordes of barbarians, make it far enough and face the chariots of Britannia or the heavy axemen of Germania.

Head south and face mighty Carthage, complete with war elephants and fast skirmishers.

East? The phalanxes of Greece and the pikemen of Macedon, further still for the heavy cavalry of the Selucids and if you make it to Egypt then watch out for the elite archers and chariots!

Absolutely brilliant game.

I am looking forward to the naval battles (ramming speed!) and the reintroduction of units like war dogs, flaming pigs, war elephants etc.

Good seiges would be nice, I didn't think they were great in Shogun 2. I need my catapults, ballista and battering rams complete with ladders and seige towers! :)

OHMAHGAAAHD!!!1! :O

This news is what I've been waiting for since I completed the original RTW!

I really hope they keep more to the original style, or even the epicness introduced in Empire but less buggy...
I found Shogun too samey and too "shiney/streamlined" etc, it didn't feel Gritty like the older titles...

I want a dirty great barbarian horde bearing down on my gritty, veteran legions. With blood!

The only thing I really want them to improve over the original other than AI and Graphics is the sounds - I would die happy to have much better and more variety of Spoken word in the game. Rather than the same bad greek accent for half the factions :P

Oh and field battles! The original SP had too much of the combat in sieges IMO, Field battles were few and far between.

Militia HHHHOOOOOOOOOPPPPLLLIIIITTTTEEESS!!!!!

LOL

I know what you mean, I still love it though!

I did like Rome, keep thinking about re-installing it.
Don't the Total War games usually come out with pretty big hardware requirements?
And usually require slightly more VRAM than Nvidia provide as standard?
Guess I'm gonna need 4GB cards...

lets hope this game is optimized better than the recent TW games.

and i hope there's none of this unit packs DLC
and blood and gore add on.

bit of an insult at times.
