Ronaldinho says - no English team will go through

Chelsea and Man U both had key players missing in those games, Real Madrid have already beaten Juventus though are a little out of form over the past few games, so really not that funny.

Of course it's conceivable Arsenal could go through, but they won't. It would take the type of performance Arsenal don't deliver in Europe to get through, Bayern can sit back and hit Arsenal on the break. They already know they can handle Arsenal's attack and can walk straight through their defence. I want the Germans to lose as much as any one but you've gotta be realistic.

I can't believe you're writing Chelsea off! A 1-0 win at home isn't a big job.

It is when you have barcelona attacking you. I think we can win it personally, i wouldnt like it to be 1-0, but i think we can certainly score 2 or 3 maybe more against them, as theyre so attacking they are wide open to counter attacks, and when you have duff and joe cole ready theres plenty of chance. We must keep it tight in midfield and hope makalele has another great game, also hope we get the rub of the green from the ref this time.

Go Blues

How easily some people forget,

Last season 1-5 against Inter Milan

Seaon before 1-3 against Roma, 2-0 against Dortmund

Season before that 3-1 against Juve, 4-1 against Leverkusen.

They aren't consistant with it but they can do it and there is no reason why they can't do it against Bayern.

I think you forgot PSV 0 - 4 Arsenal in that list.

Arsenal CAN deliver these kind of performances in europe, but they don't do it all that often. In fact for every stunning victory, you can probably find another poor result to match. However, that's probably a good thing as far as this tie is concerned, that Arsenal are inconsistent rather than a steady middle-of-the-road side. An average performance wouldn't be good enough to recover a 3-1 deficit against Bayern, we need something special.

and still are, not sure what you're getting at.

You were implying the reason both teams failed to beat lower teams was due to missing players, I was pointing out AFC have been missing perhaps their second most important player at set plays, for all but the first 10 games, and Sol for patches.

It was part of the reason, another factor is the CL games coming up both Chelsea and Man U had one eye on their mid-week games so therefore the point was flawed. It's like saying Man U didn't beat Exeter therefore should be relegation fodder. It will be different line ups so past results are irrelevant.

its hard to say these days because teams esp in european competitions can now score a lot of goals

when you think of arsenal only having to win 2-0 you think its possible, the same possibly with man utd... but the reality is the prem is at its poorest now and other teams in europe are playing better and have less games to play. the actual results obtained so far does not mean they are out but their form sadly does. leverkeusen are a totally different prospect at home and it all depends on who gets the first goal.

I think I agree with the bitter anti-Arsenal Palace fan ;) I don't think we will go through. I would be the happiest man in the world if I'm proven wrong though but I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. If we had our full defense back we could win 2-0 as Bayern imo looked dire in attack but our current defense have this amazing ability to turn non-threatening situations into situations where we concede goals :(

Even though I'm an Arsenal fan I don't hold much hope for us going through, our defence is looking shacky atm and although I'm confident we can score two goals I'm pretty sure we will concede a goal as well.

And if Henry doesn't score then my sig is going to be

"Hey bobbe, what's the French for Big game bottler" :D

Would be a very odd sig if you are an Arsenal fan. He has come out and said he knows if they fail he will be blamed as he always will. Bayern will have 2 players on him all match and he won't get involved into the game.

Man United still have a chance.

Arsenal still have a chance.

Liverpool hold a strong position.

Chelsea are in the best position.

How anyone can write Chelsea off when they have that away goal is amazing. Barcelona and especially Eto'o are a little over confident going into this game.

Man United have beaten Ancelotti's Juventus team 3-2 in Italy when all Juventus needed to do was keep a clean sheet. However, Milan are a tougher team and it will be tough for Man United to go through. The spirit of the Man United team gives them a very good chance though.

As for Arsenal, they can't be written off at all. They are more than capable of winning the game 2-0. Bayern aren't the top side that they used to be and I'm sure Arsenal's defence won't be as dodgy against them as they were last time.

Football has given us bigger suprises before.....

How are Chelsea in a better position than Liverpool

It basically comes down to this
Can Chelsea beat barcelona 1-0 and the answer is easily.
Can the worst liverpool side in living memory go away to Germany and not conceed 2 goals if laverkusen are playing well? Who knows? probably not.
